Tim’s thoughts on Peter Collinson’s The Italian Job (1969)—a big favorite of ours here at The Bits—in 4K Ultra HD from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

Stuart’s take on Anthony Mann’s The Tin Star (1957)—a great VistaVision Western starring Henry Fonda and Anthony Perkins—on Blu-ray from Arrow Video.

And Dennis’ look at Alfred Hitchcock’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith (1941)—a classic Robert Montgomery and Carole Lombard screwball comedy—on Blu-ray from the good people of the Warner Archive Collection.

Now then, we’ve got some very good release physical media news for you today, starting with this: I’ve confirmed that the new US 4-disc Godzilla Minus One: 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray Deluxe Collector’s Edition from Toho is just the latest of multiple planned physical media releases of the film. More editions are apparently “coming soon” in the months ahead. So expect wide-release versions eventually, and probably international SKUs as well. That’s definitely good news for fans around the world, and there are definitely a lot of you out there! [Read on here...]

All right, we’re kicking off the new week with three more disc reviews...

Stephen has posted his thoughts on FUNimation’s recent Akira release in 4K Ultra HD—the proper HDR fixed disc to be specific. You can find that here.

He’s also reviewed Edward F. Cline’s My Little Chickadee (1940), a WC Fields and Mae West classic which is due to be released on Blu-ray next week by Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

And Tim has checked out Jill Gevargizian’s The Stylist on Blu-ray from Arrow Video.

Of course, the big news is that today and tomorrow are officially Prime Day on Amazon, and what you all need to know is that there are a TON of great Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD deals to be had! First, Tim has posted new reviews of Scream Factory’s Quartermass II on Blu-ray, as well as Dennis’ thoughts on Mother Wore Tights on Blu-ray from Twilight Time. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just officially set director Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/27, with the Digital release expected on 8/6. Note that the 4K disc will include HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision high dynamic range. The 4K disc will also feature an object-based Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Extras will include audio commentary by the director, deleted scenes, and 17 behind-the-scenes featurettes (including Godzilla: Nature’s Fearsome Guardian, Mothra: Queen of the Monsters, King Ghidorah: The Living Extinction Machine, Rodan: Airborne God of Fire, Godzilla 2.0, Making Morthra, Creating Ghidorah, Reimagining Rodan, The Yunnan Temple, Castle Bravo, The Antarctic Base, The Isla de Mara Volcano, The Undersea Lair, Millie Bobby Brown: Force of Nature, Monster Tech: Monarch Joins the Fight, Monsters Are Real, and Welcome to the Monsterverse). First up, Tim Salmons has turned in his thoughts on Vincent Ward’s Vigil, now available in a new Special Edition Blu-ray from Arrow Video, as well as Scream Factory’s In the Mouth of Madness: Collector’s Edition. Also, David Steigman has taken a look at on Arrow’s The Case of the Scorpion’s Tale: Special Edition on Blu-ray, along with Cleopatra Entertainment’s China Salesman. And Dennis Seuling has reviewed Fredric Hobbs’s Godmonster of Indian Flats on Blu-ray from AGFA and Something Weird Video, as well as 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Love, Simon on Blu-ray.

Now then... Prime Day was a little bit of a disaster yesterday, what with Amazon.com having all kind of outages.
