Note that we have several more reviews coming tomorrow that are specifically Halloween-themed. And watch for more on Friday and over the weekend.
Now then, the big news today is that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just set Seinfeld: The Complete Series for release on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on 12/17 in honor of the series’ 35th anniversary! And here’s the cool part: while the Blu-ray will feature the episodes reframed in 1.78:1, the limited edition 4K set will feature them in the original 1.33:1 broadcast ratio. [Read on here...]

BREAKING: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) is coming to 4K this year from Disney, plus new Looney Tunes shorts on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive & more!
We begin as always today with several more new disc reviews for you to enjoy here at The Bits...
First of all, I’ve begun to review Paramount’s new Star Trek: The Next Generation feature films in 4K Ultra HD, and so far I’ve completed David Carson’s Star Trek: Generations (1994) and Jonathan Frakes’ Star Trek: First Contact (1996). I should also have Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) finished by the end of the day as well.
Meanwhile, Tim has posted his thoughts on the regular Amaray 4K and Steelbook 4K Ultra HD versions of Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) from Dark Sky Films. He’s also shared his take on John D. Lamond’s Nightmares (1980) on Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome. And he’s just posted his look at Don Coscarelli’s Bubba Ho-Tep (2003) in 4K Ultra HD from Scream Factory.
Stuart has delivered a review of Jerry Hopper’s Secret of the Incas (1954) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.
And Stephen has offered his review of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive (2011) in 4K Ultra HD, a UK-import title from Second Sight.
More reviews are on the way, including the rest of the Star Trek: TNG films in 4K, as well as All Quiet on the Western Front, Disney’s new Cinderella (1950) 4K, and much more, so be sure to keep checking back. [Read on here...]

Criterion’s March includes Lynch’s Inland Empire, plus Texas Chain Saw Massacre in 4K from Dark Sky, new Warner Archive Blu-ray titles & more
We’ve got some breaking release news to cover today here at The Bits, so let’s get right to it...
Criterion has just announced their new March 2023 titles, and fans of David Lynch should be very pleased. The slate includes a 4K upgrade of Michael Curtiz’s classic noir Mildred Pierce (Spine #860 – 4K + Blu-ray Combo) on 3/7, John Woo’s Last Hurrah for Chivalry (Spine #1174 – Blu-ray only) on 3/14, David Lynch’s long awaited remaster of Inland Empire (Spine #1175 – Blu-ray only) on 3/21, and Joan Micklin Silver’s Chilly Scenes of Winter (Spine #1176 – Blu-ray only) on 3/28.
We’ve been hoping for an actual 4K UHD release of Lynch’s Inland Empire, but like so many of the other Criterion titles that have been remastered in 4K yet released on Blu-ray first (only to be upgraded later), we suspect that an Ultra HD edition will come in time.
Also coming to 4K Ultra HD from Dark Sky Films on 2/28 is Tobe Hooper’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre, with Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos audio, and a new documentary called The Legacy of the Texas Chain Saw Massacre. [Read on here...]

Pick-Ups for the Week of May 23, 2016
Welcome to a new edition of Pick-Ups!
Thank you for tuning in. Sorry for my absence, but I’ve been on a bit of a vacation. My Mom came down to visit with us, so our focus was on spending some time with her.
While she was here, we did manage to catch Keanu and Captain America: Civil War at the theater. Both were enjoyable and definitely going out and seeing if you haven’t yet (I’m sure most of you have seen the latter movie by now). [Read on here…]

Pick-Ups for the Week of February 1, 2016
Welcome back for a new edition of Pick-Ups!
Thank you for joining me. This week I’m going to tackle a few Blu-ray titles from 2015 that we’ve missed here at the site... and don’t worry, not all of it will be horror. I’ve actually got some good movies that were released last year for you to check out. I thought I’d also let you know that I’m working on a column that’s Lord of the Rings related. I’m not sure when I’ll have that up for you, but hopefully sometime soon. [Read on here...]
