In announcement news today, Shout! Factory has begun to unveil their February Blu-ray and 4K slate, which so far is set to include John Hyams’ Sick (2023) (4K + BD) and Jeffrey Lau’s A Chinese Odyssey: Parts 1 & 2 (1995) (BD only) on 2/4, followed by Bruce D. Clark’s Galaxy of Terror (1981) (4K + BD) and John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars (2001) (4K + BD) on 2/11, and Barbara Peeters and Jimmy T. Murakami’s Humanoids from the Deep (1980) (4K + BD, including both the theatrical and unrated cuts) and Takehiko Inoue’s Slam Dunk (2022) (4K + BD) on 2/18. And way out in April (on 4/29), look for Shout to release Atsuko Ishizuka’s anime A Place Further Than the Universe: The Complete Series (BD only).
Meanwhile, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set Roger Donaldson’s Dante’s Peak (1997) for 4K Ultra HD release on 2/11, with Dolby Vision HDR. Also coming that day are Herbert Ross’s Play It Again, Sam (1972) and Steven Lisberger’s Hot Pursuit (1987) on Blu-ray.
Euerka Entertainment has set Kinji Fukasaku’s Legend of the Eight Samurai for 2-disc Blu-ray release on 2/18 as part of their Masters of Cinema Series. Eureka has also set a new Douglas Sirk box set, Sirk in Germany 1934-1935, for Blu-ray release on 2/24. This will include the films April, April!, The Girl from Marsh Croft (Das Mädchen vom Moorhof), and Pillars of Society (Stützen der Gesellschaft), along with a trio of shorts: Greyhounds (Zwei Windhunde), Three Times Before (3 x Ehe), and The Imaginary Invalid (Der eingebildete Kranke).
Our friends at Celluloid Dreams have just announced the Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release of Aldo Lado’s 1971 gaillo Short Night of Glass Dolls. Look for that on 4/29 as a 4-disc Collector’s Edition with lots of new and classic extras, as well as a 64-page booklet. The package will include the film on Blu-ray and 4K, along with the Grindhouse Version on Blu-ray and a disc full of extras.
It appears that Eagle Rock Pictures and Ignite Films are going to be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator (1985) with soon-to-be-announced Blu-ray and 4K UHD releases. Watch for details on that soon.
Also today, Universal has set Edward Berger’s Conclave (2024) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 2/11.
Sony has set Martin Davidson’s The Lords of Flatbush (1974) for Blu-ray release on 12/31.
And Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment will release Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) as a 4K Steelbook release on 1/7/25, including both the Theatrical and Extended Editions of the film.
Finally, we have confirmation from multiple sources now that Warner’s 4K Ultra HD release of Francis Lawrence’s Constantine (2005) is due to street on 2/18. And indeed, the listing has now appeared on Amazon (though it’s not yet live for pre-orders).
