We’ve got two more new disc reviews for you to enjoy today, including...

My take on Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Team America: World Police in 4K Ultra HD from Paramount, which streets this coming Tuesday.

Also, my review of Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity (2013), which is available in a new reissue Blu-ray (essentially a repackage of the 2015 Diamond Luxe Edition with Dolby Atmos audio) from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

I’m working on more disc reviews for early next week, including South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut (1999) and also The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024), both in 4K UHD. And the rest of the review team will be back next week as well with a bunch more.

In announcement news today, Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has officially set Ishana Night Shyamalan’s The Watchers (2024) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/27. Expect the Digital release to become available on 6/28. Extras will include 4 featurettes (Welcome to the Show: The Making of The Watchers, Creating The Watchers, Constructing the Coop, and Ainriochtán and the Irish Fairy Folklore) as well as a deleted scene. You can see the cover artwork at left and also below. [Read on here...]

And multiple retailers are now showing James Cameron’s The Terminator: 40th Anniversary Edition (1984) for 4K Ultra HD release in December from WBDHE. We have no details on the release at the moment except that it will be a 2-disc set (at least in the UK) and that a Steelbook option will be available. We’ll share anything else we learn about this title here the moment it comes in.

101 Films in the UK has set Denis Villeneuve’s Incendies (2010) for 4K Ultra HD release on 8/12.

88 Films is releasing Stuart Gordon’s From Beyond (1986) in 4K UHD on 9/9, also in the UK. (The title was released on the format here in the US by Vinegar Syndrome last year.)

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has officially set Peter Hyams’ Sudden Death (1995) for 4K Ultra HD release on 8/27.

Imprint has announced a trio of very nice September Blu-ray box set releases, including Peter Hyams’ Capricorn One (1978), Stuart Rosenberg’s Voyage of the Damned (1976), and a Tales of Adventure: Collection 4 (1949–1953) set that includes Fred C. Brannon’s King of the Rocket Men (1949), Flying Disc Man from Mars (1950), The Invisible Monster (1950), Radar Men from the Moon (1952), and Zombies of the Stratosphere (1952), along with John English and William Witney’s Mysterious Doctor Satan (1940), and Harry Keller, Franklin Adreon, and Fred C. Brannon’s Commando Cody: Sky Marshal of the Universe (1953). King of the Rocket Men and Mysterious Doctor Satan are appearing here on Blu-ray for the first time ever, though it should be noted that King of the Rocket Men and Mysterious Doctor Satan are included in SD only. All are due to ship on or about 9/25. Here’s a look at the cover art...

Imprint's September 2024 slate

Severn Films has set Antonio Margheriti and Sergio Corbucci’s Castle of Blood (1964) for 4K Ultra HD release on 8/27.

Powerhouse has also announced several great new Indicator Blu-ray titles for release on 9/23, including Fritz Lang’s You and Me (1938), John M. Stahl’s When Tomorrow Comes (1939), Sidney Lanfield’s You’ll Never Get Rich (1941), and Mitchell Leisen’s The Lady Is Willing (1942).

And Shout! Studios has revealed that they’re releasing a 3-disc/12-episode Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Blu-ray set (with Anime Ltd.) on 7/30 (SRP $79.98), along with several new Blu-ray reissues, including The Boys from Brazil (1978), Space Truckers (1996), Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957), and Pledge (2018).

Finally today, we need to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of the great actor Donald Sutherland, who died yesterday at the age of 88. Sutherland appeared in so many great films over the years, including The Dirty Dozen (1967), M*A*S*H (1970), Kelly’s Heroes (1970), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Outbreak (1995) and many more, and he was an accomplished TV and stage actor as well. I admired him for many reasons, but one of my favorite Sutherland appearances was in musician Kate Bush’s 1985 music video for the song Cloudbusting. It’s something that a lot of people haven’t seen, so I’m going to share that below. You can read more on Sutherland here, here, and here, and his son Kiefer has shared a moving post on X as well.

We’ll leave you today with a look at the cover artwork for The Watchers, Incendies, Castle of Blood, and some of the recently-announced KLSC 4K catalog titles (with Amazon or Amazon UK pre-order links if available)...
