Afternoon, everyone! We’ve got some great breaking news to report here at The Bits today, but first we’ve got more new disc reviews to share with you as always...

Dennis has taken a look at Stephen Frears’ The Grifters (1990) on Blu-ray from the Criterion Collection, as well as Bob Rafelson’s Mountains on the Moon (1990) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

Stuart has offered his thoughts on Terence Young’s Bloodline (1979) on Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome, as well as Jean Aurel’s Les Femmes (1969) on Blu-ray from Kino Classics and StudioCanal.

Tim has reviewed Russ Meyer’s Supervixens (1975) in 4K Ultra HD from Severin Films.

And Stephen has given the complete In the Line of Duty I-IV Blu-ray box set a look from 88 Films.

I’ve also gotten my hands on Lionsgate’s new Quentin Tarantino Lionsgate Limited 4K Steelbooks, and I’ll have a review of each of them very soon, starting with Jackie Brown (1997) later today. To give you a tease, the new 4K presentations are terrific, particularly Jackie Brown which is a full 4K scan of original camera negative. But more on those soon.

Now then, as I noted a moment ago, we’ve got great breaking news to report today, starting with the fact that Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has just made Miloš Forman’s Amadeus official for release in 4K Ultra HD on 2/25. [Read on here...]

From the studio’s press release: “The restoration and mastering of the Amadeus original theatrical cut was completed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with the participation of Paul Zaentz.” Look for HDR10 high dynamic range, and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

The disc will include the legacy Amadeus: The Making of a Masterpiece featurette, as well as a newly-produced piece entitled The Making of Amadeus. Note that the theatrical cut was the director’s preferred version of the film.

Also today, Shout! Studios has just closed a deal to acquire the worldwide distribution rights (outside of the Asian market) to the Golden Princess Library of Hong Kong cinema classics—some 156 films in all, including such gems as John Woo’s The Killer, Hard Boiled, and the Better Tomorrow trilogy, Tony Ching’s Chinese Ghost Story trilogy, Ringo Lam’s City on Fire, and many more. You can get that at least some of these will make their way to 4K Ultra HD as well as Blu-ray and DVD. You can read more here at Variety.

Lionsgate has set Rob Minkoff’s The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) for 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray release on 2/25, featuring Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set J.C. Chandor’s Kraven the Hunter (2024) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 3/4.

And Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set Jack Arnold’s The Glass Web (1953) for Blu-ray 3D release on 3/25, along with Gilles Grangier’s Hi-Jack Highway (1955) on regular Blu-ray, with Karl Freund’s The Countess of Monte Cristo (1934) and Colin Higgins’ The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) announced as “coming soon.”

Back soon with more. Stay tuned!
