Afternoon folks! Hope you’re all doing well and Happy Rosh Hashanah to those of you who celebrate it.

We’ve got a couple things for you today... first a new Blu-ray review: Our own Tim Salmons has just checked in with his Pick-Ups thoughts on Shout! Factory’s new Shout Select title, Bill & Ted’s Most Excellent Collection, which arrived on disc last Tuesday. Tim would like you to know that the set is most definitely non, non, non, non, non-heinous. Do check out his review here.

Tim has also updated his recent review of Scream Factory’s The Thing: Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray to reflect the updated audio track found on all final product copies now in stores. The track is fixed and sounds great.  [Read on here…]

We’re kicking things off this week with an early morning Monday post to deliver all of the breaking Blu-ray news out of Comic-Con in San Diego this past weekend.

First though, our own Tim Salmons has begun a new week of Pick-Ups reviews with a look at Synapse Films’ new Just Desserts: The Making of Creepshow – Special Edition Blu-ray, which arrived in stored on 7/12. It sounds like an outstanding documentary look behind the scenes on the making of the film, with a ton of great extras, so do give it a look. [Read on here…]

The company has also announced the forthcoming Blu-ray release of Ergo Proxy for the first time in the U.S. and Canada, as well as Attack on Titan live action movie releases on Blu-ray and DVD – Part One on 10/6 and Part Two TBA. They’re also releasing a Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign – Collector’s Edition and Season One, Part Two on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on 9/27. All right, we’ve got two more 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray reviews for you this afternoon and they’re both animated: Fox’s The Peanuts Movie and Warner’s The LEGO Movie. Neither is native 4K but the High Dynamic Range really makes a big difference on them – especially on The LEGO Movie – so they’re both worth checking out if you’ve joined the early adopter ranks on this format. I’m going to try to look at a couple Sony titles on the format tomorrow, so do check back. [Read on here…]
