Sony sets My Best Friend’s Wedding for 4K Ultra HD on 12/13, plus Vice Press’ The Film Vault UHD line, King Kong (1976) & more
Today’s news update here at The Digital Bits is a quick one, with one new disc review and a couple pieces of release news to close out the week. First, that review...
Tim has turned in his in-depth thoughts on The Outer Limits: Season Two (1964-65) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. And don’t forget that he reviewed Season One on Blu-ray just yesterday. Both are great box sets, packed with audio commentaries and rare extras, and are well worth a look.
Now then, the only major piece of announcement news we have today is that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just set P.J. Hogan’s romantic comedy My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) for release on 4K Ultra HD on 12/13.
The 4K presentation has been remastered from the original camera negative and will feature Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. All of the legacy Blu-ray features will be included, and—just for this release—the studio had added an alternate ending and nearly 20 minutes of deleted scenes, all never-before-seen. You can see the cover artwork above left. [Read on here...]

Gladiator 4K reviewed, plus Rick and Morty, new Shout!/Scream, Quick and the Dead 4K & more
First things first today... some of you may have seen my reviews of Mel Gibson’s Braveheart and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator on 4K Ultra HD when I posted them late on Friday night, but if not... there you go. Both are coming out on 5/15 from Paramount in reference quality (or very close to it) and they’re certainly the best way to see these films yet bar none.
Also today, Tim has just posted reviews of Kino Lorber Studio Classics’ outstanding new The Outer Limits: Season One box set, along with Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty: Season 1 and Season 2, all on Blu-ray. Each of these titles are well worth a look.
In 4K Ultra HD catalog news, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just set The Quick and the Dead for release on the format on 7/17. The 4K disc will feature Dolby Atmos audio and HDR10. It will also include the previous Blu-ray extras and will add 7 never-before-seen deleted scenes for this release. We’ve updated the 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly.
