We’ve got a little bit of news today, and also some new Blu-ray reviews to mention, but first I want to call your attention to my editorial yesterday on my experiences of Ultra HD Blu-ray at CES, and what I think it means for A/V enthusiasts and movie fans going forward. You’ll find it here. Do give it a look.

We’ve got a couple interesting things for you this afternoon.

First, Tim has posted a review of Scream Factory’s Nightmares on Blu-ray, a 1983 anthology film directed by Joseph Sergeant. Do give it a look.

Shout! Factory has just announced its first batch of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray titles with HDR, set to arrive in Spring/Summer of this year. All are IMAX titles. They include Journey to Space, Humpback Whales, Flight of the Butterflies, Rocky Mountain Express, Wonders of the Arctic, and The Last Reef: Cities Beneath the Sea.  [Read on here…]

I’ve also turned in a review of Magnolia’s recent Best of Enemies documentary on the 1968 TV political debates between William F. Buckley, Jr. and Gore Vidal – fascinating stuff.
