All right, as I work to finish these hardware reviews we’ve some good things for you today here at the site...
First, Tim has posted three new disc reviews, including looks at Synapse Films’ Popcorn Steelbook Blu-ray, Scream Factory’s Slumber Party Massacre II/III Double Feature Blu-ray, and Shout! Also today, our own Mario Boucher has turned in a new Inside Cinema report on Warner Bros’ recent Wonder Woman panel from the WonderCon 2017 convention here in Anaheim. Both producer Geoff Johns and director Patty Jenkins were on hand to discuss the making of the film and it sounds as if it’s shaping up nicely. The film arrives in theaters on 6/2. [Read on here…]

Keeping the Spirit of Wonder Woman
Keeping the essence of Diana Prince was the ultimate goal, according to Wonder Woman producer Geoff Johns and director Patty Jenkins.
They spoke about their passion for the character at the film’s recent WonderCon presentation. Jenkins said a superhero’s origin story is a great way for a child to connect with characters. Wonder Woman is one of the biggest and best-known superheroes but movie goers have never seen her origin story.

All right... yesterday’s editorial column on the new 4K Ultra HD format was a lot of work as you can imagine, but I’ve been very gratified at the positive reaction to it. If you missed it, you can find it here. I’m going to have more 4K coverage and reviews soon, but I’m just trying to balance it all out with the regular Blu-ray news and whatnot.
On that score, we have a pair of new Blu-ray reviews for you to check out today, including Tim Salmons’ thoughts on The Zero Boys from Arrow Video, as well as Jim Hemphill’s take on In the French Style from Twilight Time. Both titles are now available and are well worth a look.
Also today, in case you missed it when we posted it earlier this week, our own Mario Boucher has delivered a great new Inside Cinema column on the subject of “Duelity” in modern cinema. I think you’ll find it well worth a read, so do check it out here. [Read on here…]

“Duelity!”
Duelity! Two characters facing off, each with their own agendas. Their goals conflict with one another.
“What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?”
The battle goes back and forth, an even fight between two worthy opponents. It takes everything the protagonist has to stop the antagonist. And it often doesn’t end as expected. Or without some cost. The protagonist is pushed to the limit. The antagonist is almost justified in his actions, at least from his point of view. The antagonist represents what the protagonist could become but has the fortitude and strong morality not to. [Read on here…]
A Comic-Con 2015 update with a Bits panel report, new Die Hard set, X-Files, Marvel TV titles & MUCH more!

Comic-Con 2015 is a wrap and there’s plenty of good geek news to report for you today!
First though, our own Mario Boucher posted a new Inside Cinema column back on Thursday (in case you missed it) looking back at The Terminator films. Do check it out.
Now then... our Digital Bits Comic-Con panel went very well on Thursday afternoon! We had a packed room with lots of Bits readers asking great questions about Blu-ray. Our friend Charles de Lauzirika revealed that he’s officially working on the forthcoming Blu-ray of Ridley Scott’s The Martian. Cliff Stephenson is busy working on the Hannibal: Season Three Blu-ray for Lionsgate. And of course Robert Meyer Burnett has just completed the Prelude to Axanar Blu-ray for backers of that project on Kickstarter. Rob is also working with executive producer Alec Peters and myself on the full Star Trek: Axanar feature film – Rob is going to direct the film and I’m co-writing it with Alec. (As it happens, Charles de Lauzirika is helping to produce the film, and Cliff is going to produce the forthcoming Blu-ray special features, so quite literally everyone on our Bits panel is involved in the Axanar project.) You can view the project’s IndieGoGo page here (it launched during Comic-Con). More on that in a moment. As the panel wound on, we discussed the future of Blu-ray and indie studio releases on the format, we talked a little about Ultra HD Blu-ray (we’ll have more on that later this month), and we took questions from the audience. The Terminator Movies: A Mirror to the Times
[Editor’s Note: This column contains spoilers for all of the Terminator films. Read at your own risk.]
The Terminator movies began as a dream in James Cameron’s mind and evolved into a series of films, each reflecting the times in which it was made.
It was in the early 1980’s that Cameron had a vision: a nightmarish view of the future. On The Terminator Blu-ray, he describes how it came to him while he was working in Rome. [Read on here…]

All right, this is our last post until Friday, as we’re off to Comic-Con. A couple things first…
We’ve posted a couple more Blu-ray reviews for you to enjoy today, featuring Joe Marchese’s thoughts on Invitation to a Gunfighter (1964) and Jim Hemphill’s take on War-Gods of the Deep (1965), both new on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber.
Also, we’re going to have a new Inside Cinema column from Mario Boucher looking at The Terminator films tomorrow. Watch for that to appear in the Latest Column area on the left side of the page there. [Read on here…]
Twilight Time, Orange Is the New Black: S1, Labor Day, a new Jodorowsky’s Dune trailer & more!
We’ve got a couple of new Blu-ray Disc reviews for you today...
The good Dr. Jahnke has given Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt a look. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen and is available now from Magnolia. Meanwhile, Tim has given Taika Waititi’s Boy a spin. The indie release hails from New Zealand and is available now on BD from Kino Lorber.
Also today, our own Mario Boucher has turned in a new Inside Cinema column today, in which he goes behind the scenes at Digital Domain on the making of Gavin Hood’s Ender’s Game, which is newly-available on Blu-ray from Lionsgate. Watch for our review of the disc in the next couple of days. Enjoy! [Read on here...]

Ender’s Game: The Magic of Digital Domain
They cut your head off and it’s all that remains.
After spending an afternoon at Digital Domain for The Digital Bits, I discovered the wizards behind Ender’s Game kept only the face of the actors during many of the scenes in the movie.
Everything else is CGI and looks surprisingly good. [Read on here…]
Pacific Rim review, Walking Dead, Homeland: S3, new Shout!/Scream titles & more!
Okay, today’s Hell Plaza Oktoberfest review here at The Bits is Adam’s look at Robert Hartford-Davis’ 1968 film Corruption, starring Peter Cushing and now available on Blu-ray from Grindhouse Releasing!
Also today here at The Bits, I’ve turned in my review of a film that I found to be the biggest surprise of the summer blockbuster season: Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim, which streets on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD from Warner Home Video next Tuesday (10/15). It’s a great darned movie that I’m betting is going to pick up a huge cult audience on Blu-ray, so don’t miss it! [Read on here…]
