Note that the Hong Kong Cinema Classics label will focus on HK action hits of the 1980s and 90s, with restorations completed in 4K from original camera negatives in collaboration with the Hong Kong Film Archives.
Future titles will include Ringo Lam’s City on Fire (1987) on 8/26 and Tsui Hark’s Peking Opera Blues (1986) on 9/23. Further down the line, you can expect Digital and physical 4K and Blu-ray disc releases of John Woo’s Hard Boiled (1992), The Killer (1989), Bullet in the Head (1990), and the A Better Tomorrow trilogy (1986-89), as well as Tony Ching’s A Chinese Ghost Story trilogy (1987-91). Also today, Mono Macabro and CAV are leasing Leon Klimovsky’s Dr. Jekyll and the Werewolf (1972) in 4K Ultra HD on 6/10.
And Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed that Sam Peckinpah’s Convoy (1978) is coming to 4K Ultra HD here in the states on 7/22, featuring the recent StudioCanal restoration. Also coming soon to Blu-ray from KLSC is José Giovanni’s Hit Man (1972).
