You can see the Blu-ray and 4K cover artwork below.
Note that Warner Bros. and DC will release the next DCU animated film, Justice League: Warworld, on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD in May or June as well (street date TBA).
We also have some more catalog announcement news to report today: Paramount is bringing Peter Weir’s The Truman Show (1998) to 4K UHD on 7/4. This is in addition to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and the wide release of The War of the Worlds (1953), which—as we mentioned yesterday here on The Bits—are expected to street on 4K from the studio on 7/25.
Universal is indeed bringing the original Battlestar Galactica (1978) pilot film to 4K on 7/4 as well, and they’re also releasing Jaws 2 (1978) on the format that same day.
Also, we’ve confirmed with industry sources that Renny Harlin’s Cutthroat Island (1995) is coming to 4K Ultra HD from StudioCanal and Lionsgate, likely in July (street date TBA).
We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits with all of these titles accordingly.
In regular Blu-ray news, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has announced the BD release of Richard Lester’s Juggernaut (1974) and Michael Crichton’s The Great Train Robbery (1978) on 6/13. They’ve also revealed that they’re working on a new Blu-ray edition of Jeremy Kagen’s Big Man on Campus (1989)—that’s listed as coming soon (street date TBA).
Finally today, just a heads-up: My old friend Robert Meyer Burnett and I will be co-hosting another live Kurlan Naiskos: A Picard Season Three Aftershow tonight on YouTube to talk about this week’s episode, Surrender (3x08). By the way, you can find all of our past Kurlan Naiskos episodes for this season here at this link if you’re interested.
We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above and more, with Amazon pre-order links if available...
