Also today, Paramount has officially unveiled that they’re going to be releasing Michael Curtiz’s White Christmas (1954) on 4K Ultra HD on 11/5 as well. The 2-disc set will include the remastered film in 4K as well as Blu-ray in honor of the film’s 70th anniversary. (Whether or not the Blu-ray is remastered too, we have yet to confirm.) The cover artwork for that is gorgeous, and you can see it above left and also below.

Finally today, we need to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of James Earl Jones. Jones was an actor of extraordinary accomplishment, whose work ranged from stage to silver screen. His first-ever film role was as Lieutenant Lothar Zogg in Stanley Kubrick’s blistering satire Dr. Strangelove in 1964. Obviously, he voiced one of cinema history’s greatest villains as Darth Vader in George Lucas’s Star Wars films. He appeared in such classics as Conan the Barbarian, Coming to America, Field of Dreams, The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and many others. And he voiced the animated Mufasa in Disney’s animated classic The Lion King in 1994. But that doesn’t begin to cover his theatrical and TV work, which was copious as well. Jones will be long and dearly remembered. He was 93. You can read more at Variety, Deadline, and The New York Times.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned...
