Lionsgate sets Sisu for Blu-ray & 4K on 7/11, plus Warner delays East of Eden & Rio Bravo, KLSC’s Fletch BDs & more
Today’s new disc reviews here on The Bits include...
Tim’s review of Phil Tucker’s Robot Monster (1953) on Blu-ray 3D from Bayview Entertainment.
Stuart’s in-depth take on the Essential Film Noir: Collection 4 Blu-ray box set from Imprint Films and Via Vision Entertainment, which features The Enforcer (1951), Beware, My Lovely (1952), Jennifer (1953), Rope of Sand (1949), and Appointment with Danger (1950).
And Dennis’ look at Elliott Nugent’s The Great Gatsby (1949) on Blu-ray also from Imprint and Via Vision.
In announcement news today, Lionsgate has set Jalmari Helander’s Sisu for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 7/11, with the Digital release available today. The 4K will be available in a wide-release Amaray SKU and also a Best Buy-exclusive Steelbook. Extras will include a pair of featurettes (Indestructible: Making Sisu and Pushing the Boundaries of Reality: The Visual Effects of Sisu). Audio on both the 4K and Blu-ray will be included in 5.1 Dolby TrueHD format. High dynamic range is likely HDR10 only on the 4K SKUs. [Read on here...]

Warner Bros. brings Smallville: The Complete Series to Blu-ray for its 20th Anniversary
All right, we’ve got just a quick news update today to bring you a standard Blu-ray announcement of a TV title that many of you have waited a very long time for.
But first, we have two more new disc reviews for you...
Stephen has chimed in today with his thoughts on David Lynch’s The Elephant Man, as released in 4K Ultra HD by StudioCanal in the UK. This is an import release, so while the 4K disc works on UHD players worldwide, you’ll need an all-region capable player to look at the regular Blu-ray Discs included in the package.
Also today, Stephen has taken a look at Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World on 4K Ultra HD from Universal, a newly-released catalog title on the format that’s been given a significant image remaster and a new Dolby Atmos sound mix too.

REMEMBERING “SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE” ON ITS 35TH ANNIVERSARY
It has been a big year for the Man of Steel. The year 2013 marked the 75th anniversary of Superman’s debut (in Action Comics issue #1), a new movie was made starring Henry Cavill and directed by Zack Snyder, and, of course, it represents the 35th anniversary of the release of the classic cinematic adventure starring Christopher Reeve and directed by Richard Donner. The Digital Bits celebrates the occasion with a look back at Superman: The Movie’s opening weekend and features a reflective interview with some Superman authorities. [Read on here...]
Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel officially set for BD release by WHV on 11/12!
Okay, apparently we’re not done yet today...
Warner Home Video has just officially announced the Blu-ray 3D Combo, Blu-ray Combo and DVD release of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel on 11/12 (SRP $44.95, $35.99 and $29.98). There will also be a 3D Limited Collector’s Edition (SRP $59.99) that includes the Blu-ray 3D Combo along with a limited release metal “S” glyph with lucite glass stand.
