Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has informed us that they’ve delayed the street date for East of Eden (1955) and Rio Bravo (1959) on 4K Ultra HD from the previously-announced 7/18 to 8/1. The Digital version will arrive that same day. Adjust your plans accordingly.

Also, Blue Underground has set Jess Franco’s The Girl from Rio (1969) for release in 4K Ultra HD on 9/26. The disc will include Dolby Vision HDR and the original 1.0 mono audio in DTS-HD MA format.

In terms of regular Blu-ray releases, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has announced that they’re working on new editions of Michael Ritchie’s Fletch (1985) and Fletch Lives (1989), mastered from 2K scans of the original camera negatives. The street date is TBA.

GKids and Shout! Factory have set Keiichi Hara’s anime Lonely Castle in the Mirror on Blu-ray and Digital on 9/26.

The Cinema Guild has set Juan Pablo González’s Dos Estaciones (2022) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/1.

Lionsgate will release Fool’s Paradise on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/18.

And on DVD only, Kino Lorber will release the acclaimed Laemmle Theatres documentary Only in Theaters on DVD on 7/11.

In other news today, Paramount+ has just implemented its new Paramount+ with Showtime steaming plans starting at $11.99 a month, even as they’ve now cancelled and removed their animated Star Trek: Prodigy series from the service as a tax write-off. We do still expect Season Two of the series—which will be completed—to be released on Blu-ray eventually.

Also, for your DC Comics fans, DC Studios has just announced the casting of actors David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan to play Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane in James Gunn’s forthcoming Superman: Legacy feature film. You can read more here at Variety.

We should also take a moment to acknowledge the passing of actor Julian Sands (Room with a View, 24, Warlock), who has been missing since January after hiking in the mountains near Los Angeles. Sadly, his body was finally located on June 24. You can read more here at Deadline.

We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for a few of the titles mentioned above (note that the South Park: Season 26 BD art is temp only), with Amazon links if available...
