Horror of Dracula, Venom, How to Train Your Dragon & more new announcements, plus RIP Bertolucci, Roeg & Jay
Hope you guys all had a terrific Thanksgiving week. We’re back to day with reviews and some new announcement news as well.
First those reviews…
Our own Tim Salmons has checked in with his thoughts on Scream Factory’s Candyman: Collector’s Edition as well as Arrow Video’s 12 Monkeys: Special Edition, both of them on Blu-ray. And Dennis Sueling has a look at the recent Papillon remake on Blu-ray too from Universal. Enjoy!
Also, today is Cyber Monday, so if you’re shopping for bargains on Amazon.com, we’d sure appreciate it if you started by clicking to them through one of our affiliate links (like this one). It helps to support our work here at the site and we do appreciate it. [Read on here...]

2001: A Space Odyssey 4K reviewed & more, plus Kin, The Predator, and The House with the Clock in its Walls announced for BD/4K
All right, today’s post is another quickie for the reasons anticipated – namely I’m about to start working on my review of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Batman: The Complete Animated Series on Blu-ray. With luck, I hope to have it up by the end of the day today or early tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, I posted my in-depth review of Warner Bros.’ 2001: A Space Odyssey on 4K Ultra HD yesterday here at The Bits. The upshot is this is fully remastered and properly color-graded, unlike the recent Nolan theatrical IMAX presentations, and the Blu-ray is fully remastered too. The disc also includes Dolby Vision HDR and it has a new 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix that represents the original 6-track 70 mm theatrical audio too. It’s really a fantastic release, so be sure to check that out. Note that the end of the review features significant technical details on the remastering process (from a brief prepared by the studio) shared with permission. Many of you will find it interesting.
In the meantime, we have a few additional Blu-ray reviews for you today from Tim and our old friend Dr. Adam Jahnke, including Scream Factory’s Creepshow, The Howling (Steelbook), and Halloween II and III (Steelbooks). Enjoy! [Read on here...]

Waterworld & Crimson Peak: Limited Editions from Arrow, plus new 4K UHDs, Kevin Smith & Sony’s Alpha
All right, before I get started today, I wanted to post a quick personal note to say thank you for all the kind words and messages after my post last week. I’ve really appreciated them.
We’re going to check back tomorrow with a TON of new Blu-ray and 4K reviews (including Disney and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp), but I wanted to check in with an update this afternoon.
First up, we’ve updated The 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits with Amazon pre-order links for all three of Lionsgate’s Rambo 4K titles, including First Blood, Rambo: First Blood, Part II, and Rambo III. Click on the cover art below for those.
Also Image and RLJ Entertainment has set Arizona for 4K UHD release in addition to Blu-ray and DVD on 10/16.
Paramount is releasing a Mission: Impossible – 6 Movie Collection on both 4K UHD and Blu-ray the same day that Mission: Impossible – Fallout streets on both formats (12/4). [Read on here...]
