I know that many of you have been eagerly awaiting news of the forthcoming James Cameron 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray catalog releases that I first broke word of here at The Bits way back in March (see our post at the time here, complete with video of Jon Landau confirming them). Well, the first of those titles appears about to be officially announced...
Amazon has just listed James Cameron’s Titanic (1987) for Blu-ray release on 12/5 from Paramount. And this is indeed the street date I’ve been hearing from my sources for their new 4K Ultra HD release (as well as a Blu-ray re-release). You can see the Amazon listing here, at least until the studio pulls it back offline. The fact that the listing has been added to the Amazon database strongly suggests that the title is soon to be officially announced, likely in the next couple of weeks. But here’s what the Amazon listing looks like in the event it disappears...
We expect to hear a lot more about this officially very soon.
In the meantime, Target and Best Buy have also leaked the date and cover artwork for Warner’s 4K Ultra HD release of Andrew Davis’ The Fugitive (1993). The street date is 11/21. And you can see the wide-release Amazon cover artwork above, and also below here with the Best Buy-exclusive Steelbook version...
Now then, we’ll certainly share more on both of these titles as soon as we have anything official from the studios.
In the meantime, definitely stay tuned...!
