We’ve got a little bit of news for you today, as well as some new Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD reviews...

First, I’ve just posted a review of Jon Favreau’s original Iron Man in 4K Ultra HD, from Marvel (distributed by Paramount and now Disney). For you guys, I bit the bullet and picked up a copy myself. The new Atmos mix is pretty great, but the 4K image quality is a bit disappointing. Click here for the details. The title streets today.

And Tim has just posted his thoughts on Gordon Hessler’s Scream and Scream Again from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, as well as Riccardo Freda’s Double Face from Arrow Video, both on regular Blu-ray. [Read on here...]

Also today, my review of Zhang Yimou’s Shadow in 4K Ultra HD from Well Go USA (which also streets today) is coming shortly and should be up in the next hour or two. Watch for that soon. [Editor’s Note: It’s now live here’s now live here and a real 4K gem.]

Finally, we have two more bits of 4K news for you...

AppleTV and iTunes now have Warner’s The Wizard of Oz available for download in 4K with Dolby Vision. My industry sources tell me that a physical 4K Ultra HD release is coming too from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, and should be announced soon. (Tip of the hat to Glen Oliver for the spot.)

Also, we have word today that Todd Douglas Miller’s excellent Apollo 11 documentary is coming to Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD in the UK on November 4th from a company called Dogwoof. You can see the cover art above left and also below. Naturally, lots of Bits readers have asked whether a physical 4K version might coming to the States too. And I can tell you that the answer is probably yes, but it’s yet to be announced, and it will likely be a while before it is officially announced. So patience and more when it’s time.

Apollo 11 (UK 4K Ultra HD) Apollo 11 (UK Blu-ray Disc) Hellboy (4K Ultra HD)

And that’s all for now. Back later with Shadow 4K. Stay tuned...
