We’ve got more new disc reviews for you today and some more new 4K Ultra HD release news as well!

Let’s start with those reviews...

Stephen has turned in his thoughts on All the Anime’s UK import 4K Ultra HD release of Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name. The package is exclusive to All the Anime’s online store and also to Zavvi. Sounds like it’s worth a look if you’re a fan, as the HDR makes a notable difference.

Also, Tim has weighed in with his take on Umbrella Entertainment’s region free Blu-ray import of James Gunn’s Slither.

Now then, a quick update on our Star Trek: The Original 4-Film Collection 4K and remastered Blu-ray news from yesterday: We’ve checked in with Paramount and have confirmed that all of the remastered films in BD & 4K will feature 7.1 Dolby TrueHD audio mixes. So plan accordingly.

Meanwhile, the 4K Ultra HD set and the remastered Blu-ray singles are all now available for pre-order on Amazon.com and you can see the cover artwork (and find the pre-order links) below. [Read on here...]

In other news from our industry sources, we’ve learned that Universal’s F9: The Fast Saga will arrive on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 9/21. Also available that same day should be a new Fast & Furious 9-Film Collection on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD.

While we’re talking Universal, the studio’s single-film 4K SKUs of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo and Rear Window are due on 9/7. The Boss Baby: Family Business will hit Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 9/14.

And here’s the BIG news: Universal will release John Carpenter’s The Thing in 4K Ultra HD on 9/7. You can see the cover artwork above left and also below (Amazon pre-order links will be added as they go live).

A couple other quick notes...

GKids has announced that they’ve acquired the North American rights to Hayao Miyazaki’s 1978 debut anime Future Boy Conan. The 26-episode series has been newly-remastered in 4K and dubbed English audio has been prepared. Look for GKids to release it on Blu-ray later this year (probably via their distribution partner Shout! Factory). You can read more here on Twitter.

Finally today, since we’re all in a Star Trek mood here, Gunpowder & Sky’s Dust science fiction label just dropped this amazing Wrath of Khan “Claymation” teaser for their app and I thought it was well worth sharing with you all...

That is just 11 seconds of goddamn perfection right there. A big tip of the hat to Dust and whichever heroic animators came up with that. LOVE it.

All right, we’re going to leave you today with a look at the cover artwork for a bunch of newly-announced titles on Blu-ray and 4K, many of which are now available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
