Lionsgate has set the Blu-ray and DVD release of Kenneth Lonergan’s critically-acclaimed Manchester by the Sea for 2/21 (SRP $39.99 and $29.95), with a Digital HD release due on 2/7. Extras will include 2 featurettes (Emotional Lives: The Making of Manchester by the Sea and A Conversation with Director/Writer Kenneth Lonergan), plus deleted scenes. Speaking of Amazon.com, as we predicted their listing for Funimation’s Speed Racer: The Complete Series Blu-ray disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared. No worries though: Our guess is that Funimation will make their official announcement soon enough. In the meantime, it’s just nice to see some acknowledgement that the title is still coming. Funimation has been fairly quiet about it since they first announced that they’d acquired the U.S. release rights to the show from Tatsunoko Production at Otakon 2015. Just a quick reminder: Funimation plans to release not just the complete Speed Racer series on Blu-ray but also the original uncut Japanese version of the show, Mach GoGoGo, with English subtitles. We can’t wait!
Also today, Universal has officially set Fast & Furious 6 and Furious 7 for release on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format on 3/28 (SRP $39.98 each). You can see the cover artwork below.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just set The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-Wrestlemania! for release on DVD on 3/14.
Finally, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment U.K. has announced that it’s releasing a new 4K-remastered regular Blu-ray edition of Michael Mann’s Heat, the Director’s Definitive Edition, on 2/6. There’s no word yet from Fox on a U.S. release, but one would think it’s likely and this certainly opens up the possibility that there could be a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release as well. We’ll look into it.
Meanwhile, here’s a look at some new Blu-ray and 4K cover artwork, including some of the titles mentioned above (click on each to pre-order them on Amazon)...
Stay tuned...
