All right, first up here at The Bits today, our own Russell Hammond has just posted the weekly Release Dates & Artwork update, featuring all the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, a portion of anything you order from Amazon (after clicking to them through any of our links) goes to help support our work here at The Bits and we greatly appreciate it!

Now then... in announcement news today, Paramount has officially announced the Blu-ray Combo, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Denis Villensuve’s Arrival on 2/14. A Digital HD release will happen on 1/31. It appears that audio on the Blu-ray and 4K will be English 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Extras will include 5 behind-the-scenes featurettes (Xenolinguistics: Understanding Arrival, Acoustic Signatures: The Sound Design, Eternal Recurrence: The Score, Nonlinear Thinking: The Editorial Process, and Principles of Time, Memory & Language). We’re certainly looking forward to watching those.  [Read on here…]

Lionsgate has set the Blu-ray and DVD release of Kenneth Lonergan’s critically-acclaimed Manchester by the Sea for 2/21 (SRP $39.99 and $29.95), with a Digital HD release due on 2/7. Extras will include 2 featurettes (Emotional Lives: The Making of Manchester by the Sea and A Conversation with Director/Writer Kenneth Lonergan), plus deleted scenes. You can see the cover artwork (and pre-order the title) below.

Lionsgate has also set Shaun the Sheep: Seasons 3 & 4 for DVD and Digital HD release on 2/7.

Broad Green Pictures and Miramax has set Bad Santa 2: Unrated for release on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format on 2/21. The Digital release is due on 2/14. You’ll get both the theatrical and unrated versions of the film (only the Unrated on 4K), plus the That’s My Willie animated series, additional featurette, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and more.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and DreamWorks Animation have set Trolls for Blu-ray and DVD release on 2/7. with Digital HD due on 1/24.

Fox also appears to be planning to release Pablo Larraín’s Jackie on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/7, at least based upon Amazon.com pre-order listings.

Speaking of Amazon.com, as we predicted their listing for Funimation’s Speed Racer: The Complete Series Blu-ray disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared. No worries though: Our guess is that Funimation will make their official announcement soon enough. In the meantime, it’s just nice to see some acknowledgement that the title is still coming. Funimation has been fairly quiet about it since they first announced that they’d acquired the U.S. release rights to the show from Tatsunoko Production at Otakon 2015. Just a quick reminder: Funimation plans to release not just the complete Speed Racer series on Blu-ray but also the original uncut Japanese version of the show, Mach GoGoGo, with English subtitles. We can’t wait!

Also today, Universal has officially set Fast & Furious 6 and Furious 7 for release on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format on 3/28 (SRP $39.98 each). You can see the cover artwork below.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just set The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-Wrestlemania! for release on DVD on 3/14.

Finally, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment U.K. has announced that it’s releasing a new 4K-remastered regular Blu-ray edition of Michael Mann’s Heat, the Director’s Definitive Edition, on 2/6. There’s no word yet from Fox on a U.S. release, but one would think it’s likely and this certainly opens up the possibility that there could be a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release as well. We’ll look into it.

Meanwhile, here’s a look at some new Blu-ray and 4K cover artwork, including some of the titles mentioned above (click on each to pre-order them on Amazon)...

Furious 7 (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)   Arrival (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)   Manchester by the Sea (Blu-ray Disc)

Fast & Furious 6 (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)   Sherlock: Series Four (Blu-ray Disc)   Quantum Leap: The Complete Series (Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned...
