Naturally, we’ve updated our Criterion Spines Project page here at The Bits with the new titles.
Get this... Night of the Living Dead will be a 2-disc Blu-ray set that includes a new 4K scan and monaural soundtrack restoration supervised by director George A. Romero and the filmmakers, Night of Anubis (a never-before-presented work-print edit of the film), a new program featuring filmmakers Frank Darabont, Guillermo del Toro, and Robert Rodriguez, never-before-seen 16 mm dailies reel, a new program featuring Russo about the commercial and industrial-film production company where key Night of the Living Dead filmmakers got their start, 2 audio commentaries from 1994 (featuring Romero, Russo, producer Karl Hardman, actor Judith O’Dea, and more), archival interviews with Romero and actors Duane Jones and Judith Ridley, new programs about the editing, the score, and directing ghouls, new interviews with Gary R. Streiner and Russel W. Streiner, trailer, radio spots, and TV spots, plus an essay by critic Stuart Klawans. That’s about as good as it gets.
Click here to visit the Criterion website for the details on these new editions, and here’s a look at the Blu-ray cover artwork (we’ll add the Amazon.com pre-order links as they become available)...
Stay tuned...
