Now then... the big news today is word that Lionsgate has just set Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 11/21, with the Digital HD version due on 11/7. We expect official details and cover artwork to follow soon (there could be a 3D SKU too, so stay tuned). [Editor’s Note: Yesterday we posted that Sony was distributing the film, but it’s Lionsgate. FYI.]
Speaking of Sony, the studio has also just set The Emoji Movie for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 10/24, with the Digital HD release due on 10/10.
Back to 4K: Universal has just announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Atomic Blonde on 11/14. You can see the final cover artwork below.
On a quick Disney note, here’s a heads-up for your Guardians of the Galaxy fans: If you’ve purchased Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 on 4K Ultra HD, digital codes redeemed starting on 9/9 will now port over to VUDU in 4K. And if you’ve already redeemed your code before that, contact Disney Movies Anywhere to see about getting them to upgrade your copy. We’ve heard from a number of readers now that they are doing so. Their customer service phone number is: 1-855-347-3722. Remember, the VUDU version is the one that has Dolby Vision HDR.
In other announcement news today, Warner Bros Home Entertainment will release Longmire: The Complete Fifth Season and Shameless: The Complete Seventh Season on Blu-ray and DVD 9/26. Note that the Longmire Blu-ray will be available through the Warner Archive, as was the case with previous seasons.
Lionsgate has set Gun Shy for Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD release on 11/7. The film stars Antonio Banderas.
Well Go USA will release God of War on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 10/17.
Mill Creek Entertainment has moved the street date for Coach: The Complete Series (DVD) and Friday Night Lights: The Complete Series (Blu-ray and DVD) from 9/12 to 9/26. Adjust your plans accordingly.
The Cohen Media Group has set Jonathan Teplitzky’s Churchill for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/3. The film stars Brian Cox, Miranda Richardson, and John Slattery.
Artsploitation has set the indie horror film Red Christmas for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 10/17.
And Film Movement will release Andrzej Wajda’s Afterimage on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/24.
