Details are still a little bit unclear, but it appears that the set will include the theatrical version of the film on Blu-ray now with audio commentary by J.J. Abrams, the film in Blu-ray 3D format and DVD, all of the special features that were released on the original Blu-ray edition, and a batch of all new extras including the Foley: A Sonic Tale, Sounds of the Resistance, Dressing the Galaxy, and Inside the Armory featurettes, the previous Target-exclusive The Scavenger and the Stormtrooper conversation between Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, and all-new Deleted Scenes (in addition to those included on the first release). I think you can also reasonably assume it will include a trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which arrives in theaters on 12/16. Presumably, all of these extras will be gathered on a more comprehensive Bonus BD disc.
Again, here’s what the packaging will look like (we’ll add the Amazon pre-order link the moment it goes live)...
Keep in mind, our sources are still telling us that there may also be a Blu-ray 3D box set of the Star Wars prequel films as well, and we’ll post more on that soon.
Meanwhile, regarding Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it’s been revealed that a new trailer for the film is going to hit the Internet tomorrow. Here’s a teaser that’s been released for the new trailer...
You can also watch The Star Wars Show, featuring the official announcement, here as well...
Also today here at The Bits, our own Russell Hammond has posted the Release Dates & Artwork update for this week, including all the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray cover artwork with Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, whenever you order literally anything from Amazon (not just movie discs) in the same session after clicking through to them from any of our links, you’re helping to support our work here at The Bits and we really do appreciate it.
Finally today, our own Tim Salmons has posted a new Blu-ray review as part of his Dailies column Pick-Ups feature: Brad Anderson’s Session 9 (2001) from Scream Factory. Enjoy!
Now then, the rest of us are working on more new disc reviews as well, and I expect to have at least one or two tomorrow for you. I’m also working to finish my review of Samsung’s UBD-K8500 Ultra HD Blu-ray player. So I hope to have that up for this week as well. It remains an extraordinary value, and recent firmware updates have made it even more stable and capable. More soon.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned!
