Speaking of Shout! and Scream, they’ve just officially announced Private School... for Girls (1983), The Blob (1988), and the Hammer Films title The Devil Rides Out for Blu-ray release on 10/19. And here’s a biggie: Scream Factory also has The Omen Collection: Deluxe Edition coming to Blu-ray on 10/15 (SRP $79.97). The 5-disc set will include The Omen (1976, mastered from a new 4K scan), Damien: Omen II, The Final Conflict, Omen IV: The Awakening, and The Omen (2006). You can see the cover artwork below.
A quick update on Network’s release of Monty Python’s Flying Circus: The Complete Series on Blu-ray... the limited edition version will only be available directly from Network sometime in October. Individual seasons will be widely available at a later date.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set Doom Patrol: The Complete First Season for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/1. Extras will include a gag reel and deleted scenes.
Also, the Warner Archive Collection releases The Thin Man on Blu-ray on 7/30 and you can order it by clicking on the cover artwork below. Also coming to Blu-ray that day are A Streetcar Named Desire and Pure Country.
Here’s something interesting for classic film and French New Wave fans: Kino Classics is releasing Alan Resnais’ Last Year in Marienbad (1961) on Blu-ray on 8/20, mastered from a new 4K restoration.
The Cinema Guild is releasing Manoel de Oliveira’s Gebo and the Shadow on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/15. They also have Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s The Wild Pear Tree coming on 8/20.
Film Movement is releasing King Hu’s Wuxia classic The Fate of Lee Khan on Blu-ray on 7/23, mastered from a new 2K scan.
Well Go USA will release Master Z: IP Man Legacy on Blu-ray and Digital on 7/23.
Lionsgate will release Hot Air on Digital and On Demand only on 8/23.
RLJ and Image Entertainment have set A Score to Settle, starring Nicolas Cage, for release on both formats on 9/24.
Cinedigm will release Awake on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/24 as well.
Mill Creek Entertainment has set Guns (1990) for release on Blu-ray on 9/17. The film stars Eric Estrada. Also coming that day is Do or Die (1991), starring Pat Morita, along with I-Spy and Duplicity.
Derek Jarman’s Blue is coming to Blu-ray on 8/27 from Zeitgeist Films.
Universal has set A Dog’s Journey and The Hustle for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/20.
Flicker Alley will release Fridrikh Ermler’s Fragment of an Empire (1929) on Blu-ray on 8/9.
And Discotek Media will release the anime Lupin the 3rd: Blood Seal of the Eternal Mermaid on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/30.
Also today, on the 4K front, our retail sources have informed us that Sony is working on an Ultra HD release of Charlie’s Angels (2000), presumably tied to the new feature film. Also, Universal will release Scarface on the format later this year. Universal will also be releasing Danny Boyle’s Yesterday in 4K day and date with the Blu-ray and DVD release later this year. We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List with the details accordingly.
