Afternoon, folks. It’s a slow news day on the home video front, so we just have a couple things for you...

First, Tim has turned in another good Blu-ray review for you to check out, this one featuring a look at Scream Factory’s new box set, The Paul Naschy Collection. Naschy was a prolific Spanish actor, writer, and director of horror cinema, with a LONG filmography. If you’re new to his work, Scream’s box set is a great place to start. The 5-disc set includes Horror Rises from the Tomb (1975 – aka El Espanto Surge de la Tumba), Vengeance of the Zombies (1975 – aka La Rebelión de las Muertas), Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll (1976 – aka Los Ojos Azules de la Muñeca Rota), Human Beasts (1980 – aka El Carnaval de las Bestias), and Night of the Werewolf (1981 – aka El Retorno del Hombre Lobo). Do give it a look. [Read on here…]

In announcement news today, this is pretty cool: Kino Lorber has just revealed that they’re going to be releasing new Blu-ray and DVD editions of the Coen Brothers’ Barton Fink to their Studio Classics line on 8/22. The disc will include interviews with John Turturro, Michael Lerner, and Ben Barenholtz, 8 deleted scenes, the Headspace: The Inner Sounds of Barton Fink featurette, and the film’s trailer. Now if Kino (or someone) would just release the Coen’s remake of The Ladykillers, I believe that’s the last entry in their filmography not yet available on Blu-ray Disc.

Olive Films has revealed their June slate of titles, set to include The Savage Innocents (1960), Shag (1989), Money from Home (1953), Deja Vu (1985), and Victims! (1981), all due on Blu-ray on 6/27.

Vinegar Syndrome has announced the 7/25 Blu-ray release of My Chauffeur (1986) and Matinee Idol (1984).

And on the 4K Ultra HD front, as we’ve reported previously, industry and retail sources have additional word that Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial has quietly been prepared for release on the format and may be coming from Universal in time for the holidays. 2017 marks the film’s 35th anniversary. We’ll have to watch for an official announcement in the months ahead.

And for those of you who are gaming fans, Microsoft released details of their upgraded Xbox One X 4K gaming console system, aka “Project Scorpio” at the recent E3 Convention. What cinephiles need to know is that the unit is equipped with a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray drive, so it will pay 4K films. It will support HDR10 and it will pass Dolby Atmos and DTS: X audio via HDMI. It will not, however, include support for Dolby Vision. [Editor’s Note: Industry sources are telling us not to be surprised if Microsoft eventually adds Dolby Vision compatibility to the Xbox One X via a firmware update, just as Sony did with 3D on their PS3.] In any case, the Xbox One X streets in November for $499. You can learn more about the system here at Microsoft’s official site.

Finally today, we mentioned Adam Jahnke’s new Tribulation podcast series – episodes 2 and 3 are now available for streaming at iTunes if you’re interested. I've given it a listen and it’s pretty damn good, so don’t miss it.

We’ll leave you with a little more new Blu-ray cover artwork (click on the covers to pre-order the titles in question on Amazon.com)...
