Ambulance, The Contractor, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent & Angel Heart are all official for 4K Ultra HD, plus Blu-ray news & more

Before we kick off the day’s release news here at the site today, be sure to check out Stephen’s latest Blu-ray review, which features the Miklos Jancso Collection on from Kino Classics. It includes 7 films made by Jancso from 1966 to 1974.

Now then, Paramount has officially set Tarik Saleh’s The Contractor for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 6/7. The Digital version is widely available now. The film stars Chris Pine and Ben Foster. AV specs on the 4K are TBA.

Universal has made Michael Bay’s Ambulance official for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 6/14, with the Digital release expected next week on 5/23. Both the Blu-ray and 4K will feature Dolby Atmos audio. The latter will include Dolby Vision HDR as well. And look for extras to include 6 behind-the-scenes featurettes (Bayhem, Aerial Assault, Chase Capitol of the World, Pedal to the Metal, Finding Ambulance, and A Tribute to First Responders). Not to be outdone, Lionsgate has officially set Tom Gormican’s The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K on 6/21, with the Digital release expected on 6/7. Audio will be English Dolby Atmos on the Blu-ray and 4K SKUs. Extras will include audio commentary by Gormican and writer Kevin Etten, deleted scenes, a SXSW Festival Q&A, and 6 featurettes (The Mind, Glimmers of a Bygone Cage, Everybody Needs a Javi, Nick, Nicky and Sergio, Second Act Action, and Cages 5 and Up).

Lionsgate has also set Alan Parker’s Angel Heart for release on 4K Ultra HD Steelbook on 7/12 exclusively at Best Buy stores. Extras will include an introduction to the film and audio commentary by Parker, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and more. Here’s a look at the Steelbook art...

It also appears that BBC Home Entertainment will release the nature documentary The Green Planet on 4K UHD here in the States on 8/9. It’s been available on the format in the UK since 3/7. The series features narration by David Attenborough.

In non-4K news, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is also releasing Juho Kuosmanen’s Compartment No. 6 on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/7.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set the HBO Max Original title Moonshot for DVD release on 5/25.

Warner has also set the all-new Eraser: Reborn for Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital release on 6/7. The film is a reboot of the 1996 film.

The Universal Pictures Content Group in London has now released Kim Bass’ Tyson’s Run on DVD.

The MVD Entertainment Group has just set Richard Elfman’s genre comedy Aliens, Clowns & Geeks for DVD and Blu-ray release on 6/7.

Synapse Films has set Jorge Grau’s The Living Dead and Manchester Morgue (1974, aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie) for Blu-ray release on 6/7 as well, featuring a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative and lots of extras, including 2 audio commentaries featuring authors and film scholars Troy Howarth, Nathaniel Thompson and Bruce Holecheck, a restoration of the true original English language theatrical mono mix, the Jorge Grau: Catalonia’s Cult Film King documentary, The Scene of the Crime: Giannetto De Rossi in Discussion from Manchester featurette, the Giannetto De Rossi Q&A at the Festival of Fantastic Films, the trailer, TV spots, radio spots, and newly-translated removable English SDH subtitles. Severin Films is releasing a new special edition Blu-ray of Peaches Christ’s lost cult film All About Evil (2010) on 6/10, and the film will appear via streaming on Shudder on 6/13.

And Bayview Entertainment has set Ryan Harrison’s Ninja Badass (2021) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 6/14.

Finally today, Apple TV+ has just dropped the latest trailer for their forthcoming Prehistoric Planet documentary series, which debuts on the streamer on 5/23. It was produced by Jon Favreau and the team behind Planet Earth, and also features narration by David Attenborough. Looks pretty amazing...
