Today’s update is a quick one, with two more new disc reviews, two rather significant pieces of release news, and some additional release news as well. First, the reviews...

Dennis has turned in a look at Ronald Neame’s Gambit (1966) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, which stars Michael Caine and Shriley MacLaine.

And Stephen has reviewed Nadia Tass’ The Big Steal (1990) on Blu-ray from Columbia Pictures via Umbrella Entertainment’s Sunburnt Screens line.

A quick note: I’ve taken a bit of a break from reviewing discs myself as I’ve been focused on planning The Bits site upgrade that we’re going to be doing in the coming months. But I expect to get back to reviewing more in the next couple of weeks, and I’ll definitely catch up on specific titles then. So thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Now then... Disney has informed us today that their 2/8 Blu-ray and DVD release of the Peter Jackson documentary The Beatles: Get Back is being delayed. Apparently, the studio caught an audio glitch in the release at the last minute and needs to correct it. So just be aware of the delay, and we’ll post updates here direct from the studio when they reschedule the title with a new street date. [Read on here...]

Also today, we’ve confirmed with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment that their Ghostbusters Ultimate Edition 4K Ultra HD release was a limited edition. Not only did it sell out almost everywhere within a day or two of its announcement, the studio currently has no plans to make more copies. The problem, however, is that a HUGE number of fans of these films missed out and have been unable to order copies before they sold out—and boy, have we been hearing from them here at The Bits! I’ve been talking to the studio and they seem open to the possibility of producing more if the demand is there. So I’ve just posted about this on Twitter here. Feel free to follow me there and politely ask Sony to produce another batch of this box set, or at least a discs-only version with all the content in new packaging to meet the demand. If enough fans politely request this, you never know what might be possible in the months ahead. So please feel free to chime in here.

In other release news today, MGM has set Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 2/22. Extras will include 3 featurettes (The Rise of the House of Gucci, The Lady of the House, and Styling House of Gucci). There does not appear to be a 4K UHD release planned, but we’ll have to wait on the official studio announcement to be sure.

Also, Universal has just set Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/1, with the Digital release expected on 2/8. The film will include audio commentary with Branagh, deleted scenes, 2 featurettes (A City of Stories: The Making of Belfast and Everyone’s Inner Child), and an exclusive alternate ending with optional Branagh commentary.

Meanwhile, Lionsgate has set Warhunt for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 4/12.

Lionsgate will also release the reboot film Highway to Heaven on DVD on 3/1.

Well Go USA Entertainment will release the sci-fi thriller Project Gemini on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 3/15.

And RLJ Entertainment has announced their March Blu-ray and DVD slate, which is set to include Demonic, I Am Mortal, and Manhunt: Season 2 – The Night Stalker (all on Blu-ray and DVD) on 3/1, followed by Dalgliesh: Series 1 (on DVD only), The Nowhere Inn, Silent Night, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond – Final Season (all on BD & DVD) on 3/8, Enemies of the State (on DVD only), The Boy Behind the Door, and John and the Hold (both on BD & DVD) on 3/15, and Craig Ross Jr’s Monogamy: Season 3 and The Madam Blanc Mysteries: Series 1 (both DVD only) on 3/22.

We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for Fox’s The King’s Man in 4K, MGM’s House of Gucci, Universal’s Belfast, and Warner Archive’s The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm, A Star Is Born, and Captains of the Clouds.
