We’ve got some announcement news and a couple of reviews to share with you for our first My Two Cents update of 2023...

Starting as always with those reviews, Tim has posted his thoughts on Reacher: Season One in 4K Ultra HD from Paramount.

Meanwhile, Dennis has offered his take on Lou Adler’s Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains (1982) on Blu-ray from Paramount via Imprint Films, as well as Nathan H. Juran’s Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman (1958) on Blu-ray from our friends at the Warner Archive Collection.

More reviews are forthcoming, so be sure to stay tuned for them.

And in the event you missed it, some of you longtime readers might enjoy my New Year’s Eve look back at twenty-five years of The Digital Bits. It’s certainly been an adventure and we’re all very glad to have you along with us on the journey!

Now then, Disney appears to be re-issuing many of its Disney Animated, Pixar, and Star Wars slate of 4K Ultra HD titles throughout the coming year, exclusively at Best Buy stores, in new “Disney 100” Steelbook packaging. [Read on here...]

Already available for pre-order on the Best Buy website are Encanto (2021) on 2/7/23, followed by Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983) on 5/2/23, Cars (2006), Toy Story (1995), and Coco (2017) on 6/6/23, Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Frozen (2013) on 8/1/23, and Moana (2016), Aladdin (1992), The Little Mermaid (1989), and The Lion King (1994) on 10/3/23. I don’t find the packaging particularly attractive, but I suppose someone will. Here’s a look at Toy Story...

No doubt this is only the tip of the iceberg, with many more titles likely yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, Damien Chazelle’s Babylon (2022) is now set for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release from Paramount on 3/21/23.

Paramount is also releasing Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit in a single-film 4K UHD SKU in Amaray packaging on 2/21. Previously, this title had only been available on 4K in the US in the Jack Ryan: 5-Film Collection that was released back in 2018.

Also today, it looks like all of the Rocky films are indeed coming to 4K Ultra HD from MGM via Warner Bros. (as we correctly predicted here on The Bits a few weeks ago), because Best Buy now has retail-exclusive 4K UHD Steelbooks listed for pre-order! Look for Rocky on 2/28, Rocky II on 3/7, Rocky III on 3/14, and Rocky IV on 3/21. Not yet listed for pre-order are Rocky V and Rocky Balboa, but we would imagine those will follow in short order. And we expect that wide-release Amaray editions will be available via other retailers on those dates. Note that we have no other details at this time, but we’d expect an official announcement from the studio very soon. Here’s a look at the Steelbook artwork (we’ll post additional details as they become available)...

And look for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD from Universal on 2/28.

Our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits will be updated with all of these titles accordingly.

In other release news, Universal will release Maria Schrader’s She Said on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/10, with the Digital release expected on 1/6.

Lionsgate has set Colosseum for DVD only release on 1/24.

The studio will also release a new Orange Is the New Black: Complete Series Collection on DVD only exclusively at Walmart stores on 2/28.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release The Return of Tanya Tucker featuring Brandi Carlile on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 1/10.

And Paramount has just officially announced Yellowstone: Season 5, Part 1 for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/9/23.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned…!
