Get Out, A United Kingdom, South Park: S20, Kino Lorber’s Sheik/Son of the Sheik & more

We’ve got more release news for you today, so let’s get right into it...

Universal has officially set Jordan Peele’s horror film Get Out for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/23. We hear it’s pretty damn great. Extras are going to include audio commentary with writer/director Jordan Peele, deleted scenes and an alternate ending also with director’s commentary, and 2 featurettes (Unveiling the Horror of Get Out and Q&A Discussion with Writer/Director Jordan Peele and the Cast).

20th Century Fox has set A United Kingdom for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/6, with the Digital HD version due on 5/23. Extras will include 4 featurettes (The Making of A United Kingdom, Filming in Botswana, The Legacy of Seretse and Ruth, and London Film Festival Opening Night Gala Premiere).

Fox has also added new MOD DVD titles to their Fox Cinema Archives vault, including Sailor of the King (1953), Sea Wife (1957), Murder, Inc. (1960), Move Over, Darling (1963), Back Door to Hell (1964), and Convict Stage (1965). And on the TV front, Fox will release Damien and Queen of the South on DVD only on 6/6. [Read on here…]

Meanwhile, Lionsgate has set Aftermath, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maggie Grace, and The Assignment, starring Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver, for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/6. The studio has also set Showing Roots coming on DVD (at Walmart stores only) on 6/20.

Paramount has set South Park: The Complete Twentieth Season for Blu-ray and DVD release on 6/13. Extras will include South Park: By the Numbers, South Park: The Fractured But Whole – E3 2016 Game Trailer, South Park: We’ve Been There, Comic Con 2016: Extended Panel with Matt & Trey, deleted scenes, episode audio commentary, and #Social Commentary (Blu-ray exclusive).

Kino Lorber has updated us on the details of their forthcoming (5/30) release of The Sheik (1921) and The Son of the Sheik (1926) on Blu-ray and DVD. The Sheik will include audio commentary by Gaylyn Studlar (author of This Mad Masquerade: Stardom and Masculinity in the Jazz Age and co-editor of Visions of the East: Orientalism in Film), archival footage taken at Valentino’s funeral, and the original theatrical trailer for Valentino’s Blood and Sand (1922). The Son of the Sheik will include music by the Alloy Orchestra, a filmed introduction by Orson Welles, 2 vintage shorts (Valentino: His Life and Times and Valentino at the Beach), the original theatrical trailer for The Young Rajah (1922), and a sampling of newspaper headlines announcing Valentino’s illness and death.

Mondo Macabro has set Inquisition for Blu-ray release on 6/13.

And NHL Productions has set the 2017 Stanley Cup Champions Blu-ray for release on 7/25.
