This being the start of the long Memorial Day weekend here in the States, today is about as slow (release news-wise) as they get. BUT…

…we do have couple of cool things for you this afternoon!

First, today marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom into theaters, so our very own Michael Coate has chosen to mark the occasion with a new History, Legacy & Showmanship column on the subject. Don’t miss it! [Read on here…]

Also, as you probably know, Bryan Singer’s new X-Men: Days of Future Past arrives in theaters this weekend. Expert reviews subject it’s pretty great as these things go. And if you enjoy the film, you can pre-order it on Blu-ray RIGHT NOW on Amazon.com (street date is still TBA). There will be a DVD, a standard Blu-ray Combo, a Deluxe Edition Blu-ray 3D Combo and an Amazon-exclusive  version of the same Deluxe Edition Blu-ray 3D Combo that comes in special packaging and includes a replica of Magneto’s helmet. Here’s a link (just click on the art to pre-order)…

X-Men: Days of Future Past (Amazon-exclusive Blu-ray)

X-Men: Days of Future Past (Blu-ray 3D)    X-Men: Days of Future Past (Blu-ray Disc)    The Scalphunters (Blu-ray Disc)

As you can see, we also included Blu-ray cover artwork for Kino’s The Scalphunters (due 7/22).

All right, lots of ways to have fun this weekend… X-Men is now playing at your local googleplex, it’s Towel Day on Sunday (celebrating Douglas Adams and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) and some folks celebrate Star Wars Day on the 25th too, plus there’s Memorial Day on Monday. And if there are any of you into astronomy and sky watching, there’s a potentially great meteor shower (possibly even a full meteor storm) visible tonight. So whatever you’re up to this weekend, have a great one!
