Speaking of Lionsgate, the studio has indeed revealed their November slate of physical media releases today as expected. It officially includes Neil Marshall’s The Descent: 20th Anniversary Edition (2006) 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray Steelbook (featuring both versions via seamless branching as well as both new and legacy special features) as a Lionsgate Limited exclusive.

It also offers a surprise title that we’ve recently talked about on our Digital Bits Patreon page for subscribers: An American Psycho: 25th Anniversary Collection 4K UHD box set with swag items—featuring Mary Harron’s American Psycho (2000) as well as Morgan J. Stephen’s thoughts on Sean S. Cunningham’s DeepStar Six (1989) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, as well as KLSC’s Blu-ray double feature of Wayne Wang’s Smoke (1995) and Paul Aster’s Blue in the Face (1995).

Dennis’ look at William D. Russell’s Dear Ruth (1947) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

Now then, the big news today is that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is soon to announce the Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release of Joseph Kosinski’s F1: The Movie (2025) on 10/7. We have sort of a big day on the release news front, both good and bad, so I’ll get into that in just a minute.

But first as always, we have a couple more new disc reviews, including…

Stuart’s look at William Conrad’s Brainstorm (1965) on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection.

And Stephen’s thoughts on Wim Verstappen’s Dakota (1974) on Blu-ray from Cult Epics.

Now then, the first piece of big news today is that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced the 4K Ultra HD release of the Apple TV+ original series Ted Lasso on 11/11! This is indeed the complete series, which is officially titled Ted Lasso: The Richmond Way. All 34 episodes will be includes with Dolby Vision HDR.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios and Disney have officially set Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 10/14, with the Digital release due on 9/23. Note that the 4K Ultra HD release will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. [Read on here...]

Stephen’s look at both the regular 4K Ultra HD and 4K Steelbook versions of Clint Eastwood’s Pale Rider (1985) in 4K Ultra HD from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

And Dennis’ take on Kirk Douglas’ Posse (1975) on Blu-ray from Paramount via Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

In release news today, Vinegar Syndrome has announced a trio of new 4K Ultra HD titles as part of their Halfway to Black Friday event, including Bob Saget’s Dirty Work (1998), Michael Ritchie’s The Golden Child (1986), and William Friedkin’s Jade (1995)! All three will include Dolby Vision HDR and substantial extras.

What’s more, our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have just set George Stevens’ Shane (1953) for 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray release on 7/15! That’s a Paramount title, and it’ll include Dolby Vision HDR. [Read on here...]

We have a big new disc review for you here at The Bits: Stephen has just taken an in-depth look at the Japanese-import version of Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One (2023) in 4K Ultra HD from Toho. I should not there that there are no English subtitles, but the package is pretty spectacular.

We don’t yet know when the film will be released on disc here in the States, but we’re digging into it and hope to learn more soon.

Afternoon, folks! We’ve got a few new disc reviews, some great release news, and a fine bit of streaming TV news for you today as well! First as always, those reviews...

Kicking things off, Stephen has turned in his thoughts on Michael Mann’s Ferrari (2023), as released in 4K Ultra HD by Eagle Pictures in Italy. It’s a great little film, and here’s hoping that Neon and Decal will see fit to release it here in the States in 4K soon as well.

Stephen has also reviewed Lucio Fulci’s City of the Living Dead (1980) in 4K Ultra HD from our friends at Arrow Video.

Not to be outdone, Tim has turned in his thoughts on Jesús Franco’s Night of the Blood Monster (1970), aka The Bloody Judge, in 4K Ultra HD from the good people over at Blue Underground.

Dennis has offered his take on Theodore J. Flicker’s The President’s Analyst (1967) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

And Stuart rounds things out today with his review of Yasuharu Hasebe’s Black Tight Killers (1966) on Blu-ray from the team at Radiance Films.

All right, we’ve got quite a bit of ground to cover today here at The Digital Bits. But as always, we’re starting first with some more new disc reviews. And they’re good ones...

Stephen has taken a look at a pair of 4K Ultra HD releases, including Walter Hill’s The Warriors (1979) in 4K from Arrow Video—an absolutely fantastic release—as well as Ishirō Honda’s original Godzilla (1954) in 4K from Toho, a Japanese import disc that has no English subtitles. But read on, because Stephen’s thoughts on it are well worth your time.

Now then, the first big piece of news we have today is that our friends at The Criterion Collection have just announced their April Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD slate, which is set to include an update of Mathieu Kassovitz’s La haine (1995) (Spine #381 – 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray) on 4/2, an update or Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) (Spine #29 – 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray) on 4/9, Béla Tarr and Ágnes Hranitzky’s Werckmeister Harmonies (2000) (Spine #1215 – 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD) on 4/16, Mikhail Kalatozov’s I Am Cuba (1964) (Spine #1214 – 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray, Blu-ray) on 4/23, and Nancy Savoca’s Dogfight (1991) (Spine #1216 – Blu-ray) on 4/30. We’ve got three more new disc reviews for you today...

First, I’ve taken a look at Apple TV’s For All Mankind: Season One, as released on Region B Blu-ray in the UK by Dazzler Media. This is one of my favorite series—and alternate history of NASA’s space program in a world where the Soviets beat America to the Moon in the 1960s, co-created by Ron Moore of Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Outlander, which starts as a Mad Men-like period drama and gradually moved into the territory of science fiction with each new season. Dazzler’s release is the only place you can get the series on physical media, and I’ll be reviewing Season Two on Blu-ray shortly as well.

Also, Dennis has reviewed Mike Hodges’ I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead (2003) and Bernardo Bertolucci’s Little Buddha (1993) on Blu-ray from Imprint Films and Via Vision in Australia.

Speaking of Imprint Films, the company has just unveiled its August Blu-ray slate, which is set to include the following...
