Okay, we’ve got just a couple things for you this afternoon...

First, Dennis has offered his thoughts on Michael Curtiz’s 1932 pre-Code horror film Doctor X, staring Fay Wray. It’s now available on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection and you can see what Dennis has to say about the title here. Sounds like the actual disc quality is excellent.

In release news today, Amazon.de is now showing Zack Snyder’s Justice League coming to 4K in Germany on 5/27 (pre-order it here). There’s also a 4K Steelbook following in Germany on 7/8. Meanwhile, the dates for this title in France are currently listed as 6/9 for both the regular 4K release and the Steelbook 4K version. US retailers have yet to list the title, but our most recent information is that the studio will drop it on or about 5/25. We’ll certainly post updates as we have more information. [Read on here...]

Afternoon, folks! Hope you all had a great long weekend—at least those of you here in the States. And for the rest of you, I hope this post finds you all safe and sound.

We’ve got a couple of interesting items for you today.

First though, I wanted to let you all know that I’m currently working on my review of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws in 4K Ultra HD. The 4K restoration is terrific. And I hope to have that review up for you later this afternoon or early this evening, so be sure to watch for it then.

Meanwhile, Tim and Dennis have turned in a couple new Blu-ray Disc reviews, including Tim’s take on Kevin Connor’s From Beyond the Grave (1974) from the Warner Archive Collection, as well as Dennis’ thoughts on David Miller’s Lonely Are the Brave (1962) from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, and also his look at Leigh Whannell’s recent take on The Invisible Man (2020) from Universal and Blumhouse. Enjoy! [Read on here...]

All right, we’ve got just a quickie for you today, but it’s a good one.

A couple weeks ago, a number of Bits readers quietly alerted me to the fact that Paramount’s original artwork for the Top Gun 4K Steelbook featured the silhouette of an F-15 Eagle jet fighter instead of the iconic F-14 Tomcats seen in the film. So after sharing it on my social feeds, I alerted Paramount to the error.

Well, the good news is that the studio has officially corrected the artwork, as you can see to the left there. The bad news is that the Steelbook release is now delayed until 12/8 (presumably due to complications in the Steelbook manufacturing schedule).

But based on the number of readers who were displeased by the original error, those fans will be happy to wait for the correct version. And in the meantime, those of you who simply want the film in 4K can take heart; it’s still coming on regular Ultra HD on 5/19. [Read on here...]
