All right, we have more news for you today. But first, a review...

I did indeed post my thoughts on Zhang Yimou’s Shadow in 4K last night from Well Go USA, and darned if it isn’t pretty spectacular. It’s a slow burn study in contrasts and well worth your time. You can check it out here.

Now then, Universal has officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and Ultra HD release of Danny Boyle’s Yesterday on 9/24, with the Digital release expected on 9/10. The 4K will include HDR10 and HDR10+ high dynamic range, with Dolby Atmos audio. The Blu-ray will also include Dolby Atmos audio. Extras on both will include audio commentary with director Danny Boyle and writer/producer Richard Curtis, an alternate opening, an alternate ending, 12 deleted scenes, a gag reel, a 3-song Live at Abbey Road Studios session with Himesh Patel (performing Yesterday, I Want to Hold Your Hand, and Let it Be), and 6 featurettes (Ed Sheeran: From Stadium to Screen, Agent of Comedy: Kate McKinnon, A Talented Duo, Playing for Real, Soul Mates, and A Conversation with Richard & Ed). You can see the cover artwork at left and also below. [Read on here...]

We’ve got just a quick update for you today with a couple of items…

The first is that Mill Creek Entertainment is joining the list of 4K Ultra HD studio supporters.

The company plans to release a pair of new IMAX titles in native 4K on the format on 12/22, including IMAX: Journey to the South Pacific and IMAX: A Beautiful Planet. You can pre-order them on Amazon.com now (just click on the title links).

And you can see the cover artwork at left there for A Beautiful Planet.

Also newly available for pre-order on Amazon.com are Warner’s Superman: The Movie in 4K Ultra HD, due on 11/6. Click on the title to visit the relevant page on Amazon.

Newly listed for pre-order on 4K Ultra HD from Disney on 11/6 is Wreck-It Ralph. Disney and Pixar’s The Incredibles 2 is also listed for 4K on 11/6, but you can’t yet pre-order it.

Amazon is, however, allowing pre-orders on Fox’s Bad Times at the El Royale on Blu-ray and 4K, street date TBA.

We’ve updated The 4K Ultra HD List here at The Bits accordingly.

Back tomorrow with more news and reviews.

This is just a quick heads-up to let you all know that the Mission: Impossible films are becoming available for pre-order on Amazon in 4K Ultra HD with a street date of 6/26 (SRP $31.99 each).

They’re 2-disc sets, which would include the 4K disc and also the previous Blu-ray. We don’t yet have an official announcement with details from them yet, though we can safely presume they’ll also come with Digital Copy and all the legacy BD extras.

Up for pre-order now are:

Click on the title links above to visit their respective Amazon pre-order pages. The listings don’t yet specifically indicate 4K UHD but the price point ($31.99 is the same as the studio’s 4K price for Braveheart and Gladiator) and 2-disc configuration both strongly suggest it.

We’ve updated the 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly, and we’ll post final cover art when it’s available.

Stay tuned…

The Blu-ray and DVD sets street in November (exact street date TBA), but the SRP for the BD set is a hefty $269.97 (or $188.98 with Amazon’s 30% discount). That might scare off a few people. Yikes. Pre-orders don’t appear to be up yet for the DVD set. Meanwhile, here’s the temp cover artwork Warner is using for the set on Amazon... [Read on here...]
