Well, I’ve been fighting it for a few days now but it seems that I’ve finally come down with some kind of flu bug. Damn it. The upside is that I’m spending a lot of time watching movies, so I’m working on more 4K reviews here today.

Meanwhile, Tim has checked in with a new Scream for a Week column in which he delivers a pair of new Blu-ray reviews of his own: Scream Factory’s The Beast Within and the Ghoulies/Ghoulies II Double Feature. He also tosses in his thoughts on Vestron Video’s new C.H.U.D.: Bud the Chud. [Read on here…]

In announcement news, Sony has set Inferno for Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release on 1/24. Extras will include 25 minutes of deleted and extended scenes, and 6 featurettes (Ron Howard: A Director’s Journal, A Look at Langdon, The Billionaire Villain: Bertrand Zobrist, This Is Sienna Brooks, Inferno Around the World, and Visions of Hell).

Here’s something pretty great: Sony is also releasing the animated The Triplets of Belleville on Blu-ray on 1/10.

I have an update for you on the forthcoming Arrow Academy Blu-ray release of the Cinema Paradiso: 25th Anniversary Edition. As we’ve reported, there’s a regular edition (due on 3/21) and an exclusive edition only available at Barnes & Noble (due 3/7). We’ve now learned that the only difference between the two will be a special slipcover. Both editions will have the same extras and booklet – just the slipcase is the only difference. Those extras will include both the 124 minute Cannes Festival theatrical version and the 174 minute Director’s Cut (restored from the original camera negative), optional English subtitles, audio commentary with director Giuseppe Tornatore and Italian cinema expert critic Millicent Marcus, 3 documentary featurettes (A Dream of Sicily, A Bear and a Mouse in Paradise, and The Kissing Sequence), as well as the original Director’s Cut trailer and the 25th anniversary re-release trailer. Early pressings will also include a collector’s booklet by Pasquale Iannone illustrated with archive stills, behind-the-scenes images and posters. Lionsgate has set Grace and Frankie: Season 2 for DVD only release on 2/21. They also have Solace coming on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/14, as well as Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man on Blu-ray on 2/7 (SRP $14.99). I’m Your Man will include audio commentary with director Lian Lunson, the A Conversation with Leonard Cohen featurette, 4 additional songs (“Tower of Song” performed by Martha Wainwright, “Bird on a Wire” performed by Perla Batalla, “Famous Blue Raincoat” performed by The Handsome Family, and “Tonight Will Be Fine” performed by Teddy Thompson), and the film’s theatrical trailer.

Finally today, in other news, the first teaser trailer for Blade Runner 2049 has just been released. Looks interesting. Make sure you watch that in full HD...

We’ll leave you with a look at the Blu-ray cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above and more...
