We’ve got updates on a few forthcoming 4K titles to report today...
First, it looks like Pixar’s Coco will be Disney’s next 4K Ultra HD release following Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. It will be interesting to see what the next title is, because the next likely title (based on the studio’s release slate) would be Star Wars: The Last Jedi early in 2018. We’ll have to wait and see.
On a related note, all of the Christopher Nolan 4K titles are now available for pre-order on Amazon.com as both box sets and singles (including the Dark Knight films), with the exception of Disney’s The Prestige. There’s no pre-order for that one up anywhere that I can see (in terms of U.S. retailers) so it could be exclusive to the Christopher Nolan Collection until next year sometime. In any case, you can see the cover artwork for all of the titles below – just click on the covers to visit Amazon’s respective pre-order pages for each. We’ve also added these purchase links to our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits for your convenience.
A quick note on Warner’s The Dark Knight Trilogy 4K: We don’t know if the set will include the previous bonus disc that was included in the Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray box set, which features the 76-minute The Fire Rises: The Creation and Impact of The Dark Knight Trilogy documentary. However, if we had to guess, we’d guess it doesn’t. But we’ll confirm that when we’re able to.
One of the reasons we mention this is that we’ve learned that Warner’s Harry Potter 8-Film Collection 4K set is missing Blu-ray bonus discs that are included in the individual 4K SKUs for each film. Those are 3 disc sets each, but the set only includes 16 discs, which are the 4K and BD versions of each film only. We’ve updated our reviews of the 4K titles to mention this.
Finally today, here’s something cool: This weekend, my wife and I checked out the Patchwork Art Festival here in Southern California and we ran across a booth for LittleShopofPins.com. It’s run by a great young couple named Jason and Amy. They have an Etsy store with all kinds of cool pop culture pins, but this one I couldn’t resist ordering for myself. For just $10, they’re taking pre-orders on an Iron Giant pin featuring the robot’s head... and the cool thing is that the eyes are glow in the dark (and also highly reflective when light hits them). I saw it myself in person and it’s just badass. They had these at Comic-Con this past year and apparently sold out. So I couldn’t resist mentioning it today. They also have a pin featuring Gaff’s unicorn origami from Blade Runner and other cool items. Click on the image below to visit their store and if you order a pin for yourself, tell them “Bill from The Digital Bits sent me” in the comment box.
All right, here’s the cover art we mentioned above. Click on the covers to visit the Amazon pages (as mentioned above)...
Back with more tomorrow. Stay tuned!
