Okay, just a quick one today to round out the week...

First up, check this out... Syndctd Entertainment and International Films Management are releasing Perry Henzell’s cult classic The Harder They Come back into theaters for a limited time in the U.S. and U.K. starting on 9/5.  The film stars Jimmy Cliff.  Then later this year, Xenon Pictures is releasing the film on Blu-ray Disc.  All this is in honor of the film’s 40th Anniversary.  More information is available here.  Remember: “The hero can’t dead till the last reel!”

Warner Home Video is releasing the Paramount catalog title Terms of Endearment on Blu-ray Disc for the first time on 12/3 (SRP $19.98).  […]

Image Entertainment has set the IMAX documentary Space Junk 3D for Blu-ray 3D release on 9/17 (SRP $24.98).  The includes both 2D and 3D versions of the film.

StarVista Entertainment and Time Life are releasing the Vicki Lawrence comedy Mama’s Family: The Complete First and Second Seasons on DVD on 9/2, only on MamasFamilyDVDs.com.

Finally, there’s been some concern about Paramount’s upcoming Star Trek into Darkness Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D release in the wake of this week’s digital release of the film.  Apparently, the HDX version available for download on VUDU has audio problems (main and surround channel audio is swapped) and also the iTunes “extra” version (which offers commentary) features variable aspect ratios shifting between IMAX and 2.35.1.  For what it’s worth, we’ve confirmed with Paramount that the audio should be correct on the Blu-ray masters and that the film will be in the consistent 2.35.1 aspect ratio throughout the film.  We should have our review copies sometime next week so watch for our thoughts then.

Oh yeah… and did you hear?  Ben Affleck is the new Batman.  Discuss.

Now go out and see a movie this weekend – we hear The World’s End is pretty funny.  See you Monday!
