All right, we’ve got a little bit of ground to cover today news-wise, so let’s get right to it...

First up, Universal has officially announced F9: The Fast Saga for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 9/21, with the Digital release expected on 9/7. Both the Blu-ray and 4K will include Dolby Atmos audio. The 4K disc will also include HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision high dynamic range. These discs will feature both the theatrical cut and a Director’s Cut that runs about 7 minutes longer. Extras will include audio commentary on both versions with director Justin Lin, a gag reel, and 6 featurettes (F9: All In, Practically Fast, Shifting Priorities, Justice for Han, A Day on Set with Justin Lin, and John Cena: Supercar Superfan). You can see the cover artwork at left and also below.

Disney has officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of The Jungle Cruise on 11/16, just four days after it goes into wide availability on Disney+. The Digital release is expected on 8/31. Look for the 4K disc to include HDR10 high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos audio. Extras will include a Jungle Cruise Expedition Mode viewing option (that includes pop-up trivia), 4 behind-the-scenes featurettes (It’s a Jungle Out There: Making Jungle Cruise, Dwayne and Emily: Undoubtedly Funny, Creating the Amazon, and Once a Skip, Always a Skip), outtakes, and 11 deleted scenes. The cover artwork isn’t available yet.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set Space Jam: A New Legacy for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 10/5, with the Digital release expected on 9/3. Look for HDR10 high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos audio on the 4K. Extras will include 4 featurettes (First Quarter: Game On, Second Quarter: Teamwork, Third Quarter: Out of This World, and Fourth Quarter: The Looniest), plus deleted scenes. You’ll find the cover art below. [Read on here...]

And Synapse Films is releasing Demons and Demons 2 on 4K Ultra HD on 10/19, remastered from the original camera negatives. Each will include Dolby Vision HDR and the discs are absolutely loaded with extras that will be familiar to those who already own the previous Blu-ray editions.

While we’re talking 4K, we have word from multiple retail sources now that Lionsgate will be releasing Russell Mulcahy’s Highlander (1986) on 4K Ultra HD on 9/14. The cover artwork isn’t available yet, but you can pre-order the title here on Amazon now. (The listing is incomplete and suggests standard Blu-ray, but we have reason to believe it’s actually the 4K UHD SKU. It should be updated soon.)

Also, Universal will be releasing Brian De Palma’s Carlito’s Way (1993) on 4K Ultra HD on 10/12. Best Buy stores will have an exclusive Steelbook version.

In standard Blu-ray news today, CBS Home Entertainment is releasing Star Trek: Discovery – Seasons 1-3 on Blu-ray in a single package on 11/12. You can see the cover artwork below.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Sixth Season for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/9. All 15 episodes will be included, along with a gag reel, deleted scenes, and 4 featurettes.

And WBHE will also release Snowpiercer: The Complete Second Season on Blu-ray and DVD that same day, including all 10 episodes with 6 behind-the-scenes featurettes.

On a completely different note: Our friends at La-La Land Records have just released a brand new Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan – Limited Edition 2-CD soundtrack set that’s limited to 10,000 units. From the press release:

“Considered to be one of James Horner’s finest scores, this deluxe reissue showcases this masterwork sounding better-than-ever and expanded with previously unreleased alternate tracks. Disc One features the score presentation, while Disc Two presents the re-mastered 1982 Original Soundtrack Album and additional music.

“Produced by Neil S. Bulk and Mike Matessino, and re-mixed and mastered by Mike Matessino, this special 2-CD release is limited to 10000 units and features art design by Jim Titus. Disc One, and the additional score tracks on Disc Two, have been re-edited and remixed in hi-res from newly discovered 1st generation analog 3-track stereo tapes. The original soundtrack album has been newly remixed from digital-to-analog 3-track stereo tapes made in 1982.

“The exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer and musical director/conductor Deniz Cordell feature new comments from Sara Horner, Nicholas Meyer, producer Robert Sallin, former Paramount Music President Joel Sill, and longtime Horner collaborators Jim Henrikson and J.A.C. Redford.”
