Happy Tuesday, everyone. Hope you all had a great Fourth of July holiday. A special tip of the hat to the folks at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory for successfully entering the orbit of Jupiter with their Juno mission! There should be some pretty cool science to come out of that over the coming months.

Today’s post is a quick one, but we do have a couple interesting items for you today...

First up, our own Tim Salmons has just turned in his latest Pick-Ups column review, this time featuring a look at Scream Factory’s new The Return of the Living Dead: Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray! The disc streets on 7/19, and it looks like it’s really been worth the wait. Don’t miss it!  [Read on here…]

In announcement news, Kino Lorber has revealed that they’re working on the Blu-ray and DVD release of Wolf Lake (1980) for 10/25. Also newly announced are Chosen Survivors (1974) and The Earth Dies Screaming (1964) for BD release on 10/4, followed by Witchcraft (1964) on BD on 10/11. John Brahm’s The Lodger (1944) and The Undying Monster (1942) are now due on Blu-ray on 12/6, while his Hangover Square (1945) is now coming in 2017 with a new HD master.

Also today, just a quick heads-up to Bits readers who are also Amazon Prime members: The Ultimate Bond Blu-ray Collection with Spectre is just $89 today ONLY. It includes every film in the series along with the exclusive US BD release of the Everything or Nothing documentary. This set is regularly $299.99, so at 70% off this is a helluva good deal. It’s today only, so act fact if you’re interested.

Finally, we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of a few entertainment notables over the weekend...

Robin Hardy, director of the cult favorite The Wicker Man, passed away on Friday. He was 86. You can read more here via The New York Times.

Michael Cimino, the director of The Deer Hunter, Heaven’s Gate, and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot passed away on Saturday in Los Angeles at the age of 77. Read more here, also via The New York Times.

Also, Noel Neill, who was the first actress to play Lois Lane on screen, passed away in Tucson on Sunday at the age of 95. More here via The L.A. Times.

And we’d like to acknowledge the passing of legendary guitarist Scotty Moore back on June 28. Moore played for years with Elvis Presley and you can hear his work on many of Presley’s most iconic recordings. He was 84. More here via Rolling Stone.

One last note today: I expect to have Warner’s 4K Ultra HD versions of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Watchmen in hand at some point over the next week to ten days. As soon as I do, I’ll get to work on reviews for you. I know that a lot of you are curious.

Back with more tomorrow, so stay tuned...
