Disney delivers a big August slate of catalog animated BDs, plus 300: Rise of an Empire & WKRP!

To round out the week today, our own Tim Salmons has checked with one more Blu-ray review for you: Conrack (1974) as originally released by Fox and now available on disc in HD via Twilight Time. Enjoy!

All right, the big news today is that Walt Disney Home Entertainment has just delivered on the classic catalog animation front as we expected them to: The studio has just officially set The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad: Special Edition, the Bedknobs and Broomsticks: Special Edition, the Hercules: Special Edition, the Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers – 10th Anniversary Edition, and the Tarzan: Special Edition for Blu-ray/DVD Combo release on 8/12 (SRP $29.99 each). In addition, Disney has also just officially set the Sleeping Beauty: Diamond Edition for Blu-ray Combo release on 10/7 ($36.99). In addition, Warner Home Video has released some special features details on their 6/24 Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release of 300: Rise of an Empire. All three versions will contain the 4-part The 300 Effect documentary (includes 3 Days in Hell, Brutal Artistry, A New Breed of Hero, and Taking the Battle to the Sea), as well as 4 additional featurettes (Real Leaders & Legends, Women Warriors, Savage Warships, and Becoming a Warrior). We’ll post the cover artwork as soon as it’s available.

And Universal has set Bad Words for Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/8.

Finally today, here’s something fun: Our friends over at TV Shows on DVD are reporting that Shout! Factory has licensed (and is working on the eventual DVD release of) WKRP in Cincinnati: The Complete Series. Should be pretty cool, and with any luck all the music will be intact, so do check it out here.
