Sony has officially announced In the Line of Fire on 4K. It went up for pre-order the other day (street date 6/15), but we now know that the disc will feature a new 4K scan of the original camera negative with HDR10 high dynamic range, an all-new Dolby Atmos mix (plus the original theatrical 5.1 and 2.0 stereo mixes), and all of the legacy extras, including audio commentary with director Wolfgang Petersen, 5 deleted scenes, 4 featurettes (The Ultimate Sacrifice, Catching the Counterfeiters, How’d They Do That, and Behind the Scenes with the Secret Service), and the theatrical trailer. Note that this release will NOT include a Blu-ray copy, but you will get a Digital copy code. Our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits has been updated accordingly.
And for you German readers, Birenblatt Home Video has set John Carpenter’s Escape from New York for 4K Ultra HD release in Mediabook packaging in Germany on 10/25. We have a sneaking suspicion that a US 4K release will be forthcoming from Scream Factory later in 2021 (given their recent releases of They Live and Prince of Darkness on the format), but that’s not official. Thanks again to our friends at Bluray-disc.de for the heads-up!
Also today, MPI Media Group has set Man with a Camera: The Complete Series for DVD and Digital release on 5/12. The 1958 ABC TV series stars a young Charles Bronson.
IFC will release S#!%HOUSE on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/18.
Warner Bros. has set A Cinderella Story: Starstruck for DVD release on 7/13, with the Digital release expected on 6/29.
And Trinity Creative Partnership will release Andie the Great on VOD and Digital only on 4/27.
Finally today, our friends at Zavvi are going to be releasing an exclusive Steelbook version of the forthcoming Speed 4K Ultra HD (street date 5/4), and pre-orders begin tomorrow. We’ll leave you today with a look at the new Criterion titles for July (Amazon links are all in place but they’re not yet available for pre-order—that should happen in the next 24 hours) as well as In Harm’s Way (as mentioned above)...
