All right, we’ve got even more big title announcements for you this afternoon...

First, Warner Home Video has officially set Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper for Blu-ray Combo and DVD release on 6/30 (SRP $44.95 and $28.98). Extras on the Blu-ray will include a pair of behind-the-scenes documentaries, including The Making of American Sniper and One Soldier’s Story: The Journey of American Sniper. By the way, some of you will be glad to learn that the Blu-ray will include a 7.1 audio mix compatible with Dolby Atmos.  [Read on here…]

Warner Home Video has also officially set The Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending for Blu-ray 3D Combo, Blu-ray Combo and DVD release on 6/10 (SRP $44.95, $44.95 and $28.98). Extras will include 7 documentary featurettes (including Jupiter Jones: Destiny Is Within Us, Caine Wise: Interplanetary Warrior, The Wachowskis: Minds Over Matter, Worlds Within Worlds Within Worlds, Jupiter Ascending: Genetically Spliced, From Earth to Jupiter (and Everywhere in Between), and Bullet Time Evolved). Like American Sniper, the Blu-ray versions will also include a 7.1 audio compatible with Dolby Atmos.

Meanwhile, on the catalog front, Warner has also announced that they’re releasing Cameron Crowe’s Vanilla Sky (2001) on Blu-ray on 6/30 (SRP $19.98), complete with the original theatrical cut and a new version with alternate ending. Extras will include 13 deleted, alternate and extended scenes with commentary by Crowe, 2 vignettes (Mask Test and Kurt Russell Single Take), feature commentary by Crowe, Nancy Wilson, and Tom Cruise, a behind-the-scenes photo gallery with audio introduction by Neal Preston, an interview with Paul McCartney, Leftfield and Afrika Bambaataa’s Afrika Shox music video, a gag reel, and more.

Also today, Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders on James Wan’s Furious 7 on Blu-ray and DVD from Universal. Street date is TBA, but you can see the temp cover artwork below.

Speaking of Amazon, the retailer’s new Blu-ray Deal of the Week is 51% off Scream Factory’s Halloween: The Complete Collection. That makes your price just $82! The deal ends at 11:59 PM (Pacific) on Saturday, 4/11. Act fast if you’re interested.

Entertainment One has announced the DVD only release of Greg and Amy Poehler’s Welcome to Sweden: The Complete First Season on 5/19. You’ll get all 10 episodes on 2 DVD discs (SRP $34.98). Guest stars include Will Ferrell, Aubrey Plaza, and Gene Simmons.

Anchor Bay has set Hellmouth for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/19.

Kino Lorber has set Aleksey German’s Hard to Be a God (2013) for Blu-ray and DVD release on 6/30.

Kino’s Redemption Films label will release Jess Franco’s The Sadistic Baron Von Klaus on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/9.

And Lionsgate has set Miss Julie for DVD and digital release on 5/5, starring Jessica Chastain and Colin Farrell.

Also, we’ve learned that Fox’s Premium “Master Bust” Edition of The Strain: The Complete First Season on Blu-ray (due 6/9 – SRP $69.99) will include a number of exclusive extras in addition to those that were on the regular BD edition released back in December of last year. Among them are a new audio commentary on Night Zero by Guillermo del Toro, a new audio commentary on The Master by Carlton Cruse, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and 2 featurettes (FX Teasers: The Strain Season 1 and He Is Here).

Finally, a bit of disappointing news: We’ve heard back from our sources at Universal and have been told that the studio currently has no plans to release the Casino: 20th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray here in the States. As many of you know, it will be released on Blu-ray in the U.K. on 5/4. The good news is, we believe that the U.K. disc will be all-region, though keep in mind any SD special feature content on the disc will likely be PAL format.

Here’s a look at some more new Blu-ray cover artwork for you (click on the covers to support The Bits by pre-ordering the titles on Amazon)...
