All right, today’s post is going to be a quickie and we’re delaying Michael Coate’s next History, Legacy & Showmanship column to tomorrow. However, it’s another good James Bond retrospective interview, so be sure to watch for that in the morning.

In the meantime, we also have a new Blu-ray review for you: Tim has given Arrow Video’s new Ringu Collection an in-depth look. The set includes Ring, Spiral, Ring 2, and Ring 0: Birthday, plus extras. Horror fans will definitely want to check it out.

Now them, we have a couple of bits of business to report on today... [Read on here...]

First, while we’re talking Arrow Video, the company has just announced that they’re releasing Gamera: The Complete Collection on Blu-ray on July 28, including all 12 original films in the series with new 4K restorations of the Heisei trilogy, hours of new extras, a hardback 120-page comic book and a new 80-book on the series by Patrick Macias. This will be a US, UK, and Canada release.

Also, for those of you who are Disney Movie Club members, all of the individual Star Wars 4K titles are now up for pre-order. And the VIP member price (after you complete your 5-title obligation purchases) is VERY budget friendly: You pay full Club price for the first title and just $14 for each of the others in the same order. So if you’re looking to buy them and would like to save money, it’s a good way to do so. The Club obviously has access to all of the Pixar, Marvel, and Disney 4Ks and Blu-rays too, so it’s a good deal if you’re collecting any of them.

Also for those looking for great deals on Blu-ray titles, Criterion is having a 50% off FLASH SALE today only (until I believe Noon tomorrow Eastern time) on any in stock Blu-ray titles.

Finally today, a bit of industry news. It’s just now breaking in the Hollywood trade press that Bob Chapek, the current head of Disney Parks (and the former head of Home Entertainment back in the Golden Age of discs) is going to succeed Bob Iger as the new CEO of Disney. And I’d like to take a moment today to congratulate him. I first met Bob Chapek way back in early days of Blu-ray and he’s just a good dude. I think he’s a fine choice to take over for Iger and we here at The Digital Bits wish him all the success in the world. You can read more today here at Variety and here at Media Play News.

All right, that’s all for now! Stay tuned...
