The 4K presentation will include HDR10 high dynamic range and an all-new Dolby Atmos audio mix, plus the original theatrical 5.1 audio mix in DTS-HD MA format. All of the previous Blu-ray extras will carry over. You can see the cover artwork above left.
For those of you in Germany, or who import 4K titles, Turbine Media has set Leatherface: Uncut (2017) for release as 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo in Steelbook packaging on 2/26.
For Muppet Show fans, we have word that the recent streaming release of the series on Disney+ isn’t quite as uncut as originally believed. Over 100 of the series’ 120 episodes are now available for streaming, but there are still a few episodes missing and several that still have edits. This is presumably due to remaining unresolved music rights and related issues. Still, this is a lot more of the series than we’ve ever gotten before at home. And there is reason to hope that the unresolved portions will come online as the issues are cleared eventually. You can find more details here at EW and here in this post on Reddit.
And in other news today... or in case you missed it as we did... Insight Editions and animation historian Jerry Beck have recently released an updated version of his book The 100 Greatest Looney Tunes Cartoons. It’s packed with information and great imagery, and has terrific reviews, so if you’re a fan of classic animation do give it at look here...
Finally today, this has little to do with movies but NASA’s Perseverance has just sent back its first video from Mars, and it’s a dazzler: For the first time ever, NASA and JPL have captured video of one of its rovers actually landing on the Red Planet. You can see the parachutes deploy, the rockets firing to slow the craft down, and even the rover being lowered onto the surface. It’s pretty neat, so you’ll find that here...
