Hateful Eight goes Blu on 3/29 (but not the Roadshow Cut), plus Michael Collins, Carol, Sisters: Unrated & more

The Weinstein Company, Starz and Anchor Bay have officially set Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight for Blu-ray and DVD release on 3/29 (SRP $39.99 and $29.98). The digital HD release is due on 3/15. Running time is 168 minutes (the Theatrical Cut only), aspect ratio is 2.76:1, and audio is 5.1 DTS HD-MA. Note that the Blu-ray includes only 2 featurettes by way of extras (Beyond the Eight: A Behind-the-Scenes Look and Sam Jackson’s Guide to Glorious 70mm). This, plus the fact that the 187-minute Roadshow Version is not included, suggests a more elaborate Blu-ray release is already planned for later this year. Because of course there is. By the way, those same companies have also set Todd Haynes’ Carol for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/15.

Warner Archive has set Michael Collins for Blu-ray release on 4/5.

HBO and Cinemax have set Strike Back: Cinemax Season 4 for Blu-ray and DVD release on 3/1.

VCI Entertainment has set John Moxey’s uncut and restored The City of the Dead for Blu-ray release on 3/29.

Shout! Factory has set The Gong Show Movie for Blu-ray release on 3/29.

Vinegar Syndrome will release Roger Watkins’ Corruption, Marc Lawrence’s Pigs, Anthony Spinelli’s SexWorld, and Phillip Marshak’s Blue Ice on Blu-ray on 3/29.

20th Century Fox will release Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/15. The Blu-ray is loaded with extras, mostly targeted to kids, including music videos, sing-a-longs and the like.

And Universal has set Sisters: Unrated for Blu-ray and DVD release on 3/15.
