In announcement news today, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has set Youth for Blu-ray release on 3/1. Extras will include 5 featurettes (Michael Caine, Paolo Sorrentino, The Cast, Music and Sound, and The Essence of Youth), a 24-image gallery, and the film’s theatrical trailer.
Here’s something awesome for classic TV fans: Shout! Factory has set Lou Grant: The Complete First Season for DVD release on 5/3. (Amazon has it listed as a Blu-ray release, but the cover artwork is DVD, so I suspect they’ll get it sorted out shortly. You can see the art & link below.)
Drafthouse Films has set The Tribe for digital release on 2/23, with Blu-ray and DVD following on 3/8.
Lionsgate will release Don Verdean on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital on 3/1.
FUNimation has set Psycho-Pass: The Movie for limited theatrical release on 3/15 & 3/16. The film will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD later in 2016. Meanwhile, the company has also set Psycho-Pass: Season Two for Blu-ray release on 3/8.
And let it be known that the official NFL Super Bowl 50 Champions Blu-ray and DVD will be released on 3/8. So after this weekend’s big game, at least some of you Broncos or Panthers fans will be thrilled to get your Blu-ray pre-orders in here (see this link). Good luck and may the best team win.
Finally today, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the passing yesterday of Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell. He was 85. Mitchell served as the LMP (Lunar Module Pilot) on NASA’s third Moon landing, and was the sixth human being to walk upon its surface. I sincerely hope a few of these veteran Apollo astronauts live to see us return to the Moon and walk on Mars one day. In any case, my friend Robert Perlman has posted a very good remembrance of Mitchell over at CollectSpace. Do check it out. Godspeed, Edgar.
We’ll leave you with a little bit more new Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork, including those Shout!/Scream titles from the other day that now have Amazon pre-order links...
Enjoy Super Bowl 50 and see you Monday!
