Subscription support is really the only way we can keep The Digital Bits website going in these ever more challenging economic times, as traditional website advertising shifts overwhelmingly to social media, and as AI-powered search means fewer Internet users organically discover The Bits website.
We appreciate your support in this way very much, and we try hard to make your subscription worth it by regularly sharing home entertainment news and information with our subscribers earlier (and often more frankly) on Patreon than we often can here on the regular Bits site.
So thank you for considering it, thank you in advance if you do choose to subscribe, and either way: We wish you and your entire family a very lovely holiday season!
Now then… the big piece of announcement news today is that Disney has finally set Joachim Rønning’s Tron: Ares (2025) for Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release on 1/6/26, with the Digital release expected on 12/2.
The 4K will come in Steelbook packaging (like the previous Tron and Tron: Legacy releases, which we expect to come back in stock via online retailers around the same time, if you’ve had a hard time getting your hands on a copy). Note that there will also be a 3-Film DVD Collection that same day.
Extras in the 4K package will include 3 deleted scenes and 5 featurettes (including The Journey to Tron: Ares, Light Cycles on the Loose, The Artistry of Tron: Ares, Cast Conversations, and The Legacy of Tron).
The 4K itself will be a 66GB disc, presented at the 2.39:1 aspect ratio, with Dolby Atmos audio. We presume the title will also include Dolby Vision HDR like the two previous films. Here’s what the Steelbook package looks like (the regular Amaray/Elite version is pictures above left). Amazon pre-order links will be added when they go live (in about a week)…

All right, that’s it for now. Back with more soon.
Stay tuned…
