Thor: Dark World, Darkman & Dallas Buyers official, plus L.A. Law, American Tail & Rocky Heavyweight box

Let’s close out the week with a couple more great title announcements...

Disney has also officially confirmed that Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World will arrive on Blu-ray 3D Combo, Blu-ray Combo and DVD on 2/25, with digital versions available on 2/4.  The Blu-ray will include audio commentary with director Alan Taylor, producer Kevin Feige, actor Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau, deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, 2 featurettes (A Brothers’ Journey: Thor & Loki and Scoring Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World with Brian Tyler) and an exclusive look at Marvel’s forthcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  One imagines there will be various retail exclusive versions as well.  [Read on here…]

Meanwhile, Scream Factory has just officially announced their Darkman: Collector’s Edition for 2/18 (SRP $29.93).  Extras will include all-new interviews with Liam Neeson, Frances McDormand, Larry Drake, Danny Hicks, make-up effects artist Tony Gardner, production designer Randy Ser, and art director Philip Dagort, audio commentary with director of photography Bill Pope, vintage “making of” featurettes and interviews, still galleries, the theatrical trailer and TV spots.

Shout! Factory has also announced the first-ever DVD release of L.A. Law: Season One on 2/25 (SRP $29.93), featuring all 22 episodes on 6 discs, with new interviews with Steven Bochco, Jimmy Smits, Jill Eikenberry, Michael Tucker, Susan Ruttan and more!

Universal and Focus Films have set Dallas Buyers Club for Blu-ray Combo and DVD release on 2/4.

Sony has set a “remastered in 4K” (yet still 1080p) version of Spider-Man 2 for BD release on 4/22.

Universal has set An American Tail for BD release on 3/4.

Lionsgate has set Reasonable Doubt for BD release on 3/18.

Anchor Bay has set My Dog the Champion for DVD only release on 2/4.

A&E is releasing Big History on Blu-ray on 3/11.

One Village Entertainment has set In Sickness and in Health and To Love and to Cherish for DVD release on 1/7.

And MGM has set a new Rocky: Heavyweight Collection for Blu-ray release on 2/11 (SRP $50), featuring all six films in the series.

Finally, those of you in the NYC area may be interested to know that Troma and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) are going to be holding a special screening of Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1 on Thursday, 1/9, featuring a special Q&A with director Lloyd Kaufman himself.  Be there or Uncle Lloyd will personally track you down and autograph your forehead while you sleep.
