All right, let’s get right to today’s big news, which we’re reporting here exclusively on The Digital Bits: Lionsgate will finally release Kevin Smith’s Dogma (1999) in 4K Ultra HD in December! [Read on here...]

There will be a Lionsgate Limited-exclusive 4K UHD + Blu-ray Steelbook, along with a wide-release 4K + Blu-ray version in Amaray packaging on Amazon and Walmart. The exact street date is still TBA, but expect it in the first half of December.

All SKUs will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio, a new feature-length documentary on the making of the film with new interviews with the cast and crew, a new Establishing Shot featurette with DP Robert Yeoman, More Sermons from the Mount, additional new interview featurettes, all of the legacy special features, plus never-before-seen content. The Lionsgate Limited Steelbook will also exclusively include a new booklet with “hate letters” from the film’s originally 1999 release as well as a new introduction to the film by Smith. Here’s what the packaging will look like…

Note that Umbrella Entertainment is also going to be releasing Dogma in 4K UHD exclusively in Australia and New Zealand on 12/10. Details on that release can be found here, where pre-orders have now begun.

While we’re on the topic of Lionsgate, the studio has announced that they’re finally going to be releasing Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair—incorporating Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) as a single film—theatrically on 12/5. This will include a never-before-seen animated sequence. There will be both 35mm and 70mm showings (in select theaters). You can read more today via Deadline.

This of course has led many to ask if The Whole Bloody Affair will be released on physical media as well. No official details on this are as yet available, but stay tuned. We’ll certainly share any news on this front as soon as it’s available.

Meanwhile today, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set Greg Mottola’s Paul (2011) for 4K Ultra HD release on 11/18. They’ve also confirmed that Don Edmonds’ Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks (1976) is following in 4K on 11/25, and that David Hogan’s Barb Wire (1996) is coming in 2026 to 4K Ultra HD.

Blue Underground has also been teasing work on their long-awaited 4K Ultra HD restoration of Ralph Bakshi’s Fire and Ice (1983) on their social media here. Details are TBA, but it will include both Dolby Vision HDR and a new Dolby Atmos mix.

Also today, our friends at Via Vision’s Imprint Films have just revealed their November Blu-ray slate, which includes Antonia Bird’s Priest (1994), Shane Meadows’ TwentyFourSeven (1997), Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank (2009), Jerzy Skolimowski’s The Lightship (1985), Peter Yates’s Eleni (1985), and Bruce McGann’s Withnail and I (1987). Each is limited to 1500 copies. The street date for all is 11/26. You can pre-order them here.

Speaking of pre-orders, lots of new ones are up now on Amazon, including the recently-announced 4Ks of…

…and much more! Anytime you order literally anything from Amazon after clicking to them through one of our links, you’re helping to support our work here on The Bits and we really appreciate it!

Finally today, there’s a great new video interview with director Terry Gilliam about the 50th anniversary of Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) on Youtube that fans of the film are not going to want to miss. So here’s that…

Now then, we’re going to spend the weekend working on new disc reviews and also getting our ever-popular 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits back up to date—we temporarily stopped updating it when we were having our website issues a couple of months ago. So rest assured, that will soon be back up to par.

In the meantime, have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here on Monday!
