We begin our post today with a few more new disc reviews...

Dennis has posted his thoughts on the 1945 musical revue classic Ziegfeld Follies, an MGM title now available on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection.

Dennis has also reviewed Billy Wilder’s The Emperor Waltz (1948), an old Paramount title that’s coming on Blu-ray in August from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

And Stephen has checked in with his look at the latest entry in the Saw franchise, Darren Lynn Bousman’s Spiral (2021) on 4K Ultra HD from Lionsgate.

Speaking of 4K Ultra HD, the big news today is that Kino Lorber Studio Classics has just revealed that it’s going to be releasing Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs (1991) on 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray) on 10/19, featuring Dolby Vision HDR, a new audio commentary with film historian Tim Lucas, and lots of legacy extras. This is of course just a couple days after the company announced that they’re also releasing Philip Kaufman’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) on 4K Ultra HD later this year. You can expect a bunch more 4K titles to be announced from the company in the weeks ahead.

Also on the subject of 4K, Universal is preparing to release M. Night Shyamalan’s Old on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on or about 10/12. Keep in mind that Disney is releasing his Unbreakable on 4K UHD on 9/21.

And we expect Warner Bros. Home Entertainment to release Space Jam 2: A New Legacy, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and The Suicide Squad (2021) on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD in October. (Thanks to our friends over at the excellent indie retail site HD Movie Source for tipping us off to a couple of those!) We also expect the studio to announce The Shawshank Redemption and A Clockwork Orange for release on 4K UHD in September—that announcement could come at any time in the next few weeks.

We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List with the details on all of the above accordingly.

In other release news, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just set Superman & Lois: The Complete First Season for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/19. In addition to all 15 episodes, extras will include 4 featurettes (Superman: Alien Spirit, Superman and Lois Legacy of Hope, Never Alone: Heroes and Allies, and DC FanDome Panel: Superman & Lois).

Warner and HBO have also set The Nevers: Season 1 Part 1 for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/5.

Paramount Home Entertainment has set an Audrey Hepburn 7-Movie Collection for release on Blu-ray on 10/5, in honor of the 60th anniversary of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. In addition to that film, the set will include My Fair Lady, Funny Face, Sabrina, Roman Holiday, Paris When It Sizzles, and War and Peace, plus legacy extras. You’ll also get Digital copies of each film.

Paramount has also announced The Haunting of Bly Manor for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/12. The set will include all 9 episodes along with audio commentary on 3 episodes and 2 featurettes.

Also, Dark Sky Films has set My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It To for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/10.

RLJE Films has set The Water Man for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/17.

That’s all for today. Stay tuned...
