Extras on the 2-disc set will include audio commentary (by Burton, director Henry Selick, and music designer Danny Elfman), The Making of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, two of his early films (Vincent and the uncut version of Frankenweenie), Burton’s original poem narrated by Christopher Lee, the “What’s This?” Jack’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour, and deleted scenes. We expect HDR10 high dynamic range on the 4K disc, per Disney’s usual modus operandi. The title is already listed on the Disney Movie Club website and also Amazon, though the latter is only a placeholder for now (but we expect it to go live soon, and here’s the link). Also today, Paramount has set NCIS: Los Angeles – The Final Season for DVD only release on 9/5.
And our friends at Eureka in the UK have just announced a new 2-disc 4K Ultra HD limited edition release of Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil as part of their Masters of Cinema collection. Look for that to street across the pond on 25 September. All three versions of the film will be included with Dolby Vision HDR. Per the company’s press release, extras will include:
“Four audio commentaries, featuring: restoration producer Rick Schmidlin (reconstructed version); actors Charlton Heston & Janet Leigh, with Schmidlin (reconstructed version); critic F. X. Feeney (theatrical version); and Welles scholars James Naremore & Jonathan Rosenbaum (preview version); a new video interview with critic, broadcaster and cultural historian Matthew Sweet; a new video interview with critic Tim Robey; a new video interview with author and critic Kim Newman; Bringing Evil to Life and Evil Lost and Found – two video pieces, featuring interviews with cast and crew, as well as critics and admirers; the original theatrical trailer; plus a 100-page book featuring writings by Orson Welles, François Truffaut, André Bazin, and Terry Comito; interview excerpts with Welles; a timeline of the film’s history; two new essays by critic Richard Combs; and rare stills and imagery.”
