Halloween Hangover! – 2015

We all miss Dr. Jahnke here at The Digital Bits, especially his annual Oktoberfest reviews during the Halloween season. So since I'm a big fan of horror movies myself, we’re going to carry on that tradition in the same spirit, but mix it up a bit. I’ll be spending the month reviewing not just the newest horror titles currently hitting the market, but also some others that we haven’t covered here previously and that you might have overlooked (all of which are well worth your time and hard-earned cash). It should be a lot of fun and we hope you’ll join us all month long for it Hopefully, I’ll still be standing afterwards… having a Halloween Hangover.  [Read on here...]

Well... I'm spending this first day of the new week, post Memorial Day, to get myself settled into a new computer. After years of loyal service, my old PC revealed a terminal flaw back in December, so I bought a new one that I'm affectionately calling the WOPR. But as I've been incredibly busy of late, getting all my files moved over and organized, and getting all the needed software installed and whatnot, has taken several months. So forgive me if today's update is a quick one as I finish up that process.

We have a bunch of reviews we're working on for posting hopefully this week, including Universal's new classic Battlestar Galactica box set. Meanwhile, we have a quick release news update for you.  [Read on here…]

Let’s have a badass release news round-up today, shall we?

First though a very quick side note: Our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Art section with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, a portion of anything you order from Amazon after you click through to them from our links goes to help keep The Bits going and we really do appreciate it.

Now then... let’s get to the release news. We’ll start with a little tidbit for you Game of Thrones fans. Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders on the Blu-ray and DVD release of Game of Thrones: Season Five (SRP $79.98 and $59.99). Click here for the Blu-ray pre-order page. Street date is TBA.  [Read on here…]

We’ve got some more Blu-ray release news for you this afternoon…

Here’s something for you catalog fans: The official Disney Movie Club has revealed that they’re going to be releasing the live action classics Swiss Family Robinson (1960) and Return to Oz (1985) on Blu-ray on 4/14, though only to club members. Other classic live-action titles are already available on Blu-ray to club members, including The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975), The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969), Polyanna (1960), Old Yeller (1957), The Love Bug (1968), and Herbie Rides Again (1974). I haven’t seen any of these personally, but readers tell me they’re pretty good on the whole. There are currently no signs that these BDs will be made available widely, although that’s always a possibility down the line. The regular club price is $29.95 for Blu-ray, but when you first join you get some good discounts. Visit the official Disney Movie Club website here for more information and to sign up.  [Read on here…]
